I'm curious whether as part of your routine you shave with the grain, against the grain or both. I know some guys who only shave with the grain, or just do it against the grain, or both.
When I first started shaving my head 28 days ago, I did both. However, now I'm only shaving my head against the grain as long as I shave it everyday. I find my head is a lot smoother and for all day if I only shave against the grain. It also doesn't take as long. Now if I go more than a day without shaving (which I try not to do) then I have to go with the grain before going against the grain.
What do you do?

Against the grain, gotta be BBS!
-
Always against. Found out it's less aggressive to my head.
-
I do now, at one time the back of the head was WTG. Now usually, ATG. Takes awhile to condition the skin , for some people.
-
Directly against the grain.
Less strokes = Less irritation
-
Usually start with then against. Even if it is daily shaving I still do that.
Don't get any irritation, works for me.
-
Tried to shave WTG but it didn't really work for me so I started only shaving ATG and going across on some spots. It can cause bumps and some irritation but is the best way to get a smooth and shiny head.
-
I go against the grain also now the skin is used to it
-
Both and sometimes across. I don't pay much attention to it tbh. I just get used to doing what feels right on a particular spot.
I find on the back of my head it's a little harder to go against so I often go across there for example.

I shave against the grain first, then with the grain. It leaves a nice smooth dome.

I now only shave ATG I was getting so much irritation before going every direction. I will say reading more and finding what works for others has helped me realize prep and after shave is just as important if not more. Ice cube rub witch hazel and aloe are working wonders! Thanks to this great site I’m now smooth everyday and getting better shaves each day
