Title: Hello everyone
Post by: TheBarkingCat on August 18, 2018, 07:56:54 PM
I've been something of a lurker on this forum for a long time. I started losing my hair in earnest in my early 20s. At some point, I allowed myself to be convinced that a hair transplant was the way to go. "The strip scar will be barely noticeable " they said. Initially I was pleased with the results, but I continued to lose hair, which led to the whole thing looking pretty bad. Desperate, I had a second procedure. The results weren't great. Fast forward 10 or so years, and I'm well into recovery for a few surgeries and a drinking problem, determined to regain my life and self image. Even though I was scared of what I would find, I decided to shave my head. It was bad, but better than the mess that was on top of my head for so long. Just like my other scars, I have to own it. Like so many other people here have said, I wish I had found this forum or one like it before I decided to have my first hair transplant. If I had known then what I know now, I would never have done it. Hindsight, eh? I'm going to include a picture of my scar. It doesn't happen often, but when people ask me about it, I tell them the truth. Maybe it helps someone else avoid making the same mistake I did.

So hello :)

Welcome. Just so you know I had the same issue with transplant scars. I had micro tattoos done all over it. It is 95% covered now. Others on this forum have done it. I can shave bald with confidence now. My avatar photo is right after I had it done. i went to His Hair but other companies do it now too.

Welcome! Sorry you had to go through that, but even so the shaved head looks good. As chgobuzzbald mentioned, getting SMP to cover the scar (and other areas if you so choose) can help. FWIW, I am also an SMP client, but mine was to cover surgical scars. Even so, enjoy and feel free to ask questions or concerns.

Welcome! You have a nice looking shaved head. Yes, I know there are other guys here in the same situation that got the scar tattooed.

Welcome, our scars make us not break us.  It sounds as if you are well on the way to owning it.  That said as the guys have said there are ways to try and minimize it
