Honest opinions? Is this the beginning of one?

Looks like a cowlick.

No. Stop worrying.
-
looks perfectly normal to me

I agree with the other gentlemen. That is not a bald spot.
-
looks fine to me too

It's just that spot on your crown where hair grows in all different directions.

Thanks, all. My dad (in his 50s) has a pretty big bald spot, so I was wondering if it was my own genetics beginning to follow suit. I'll be permanently going sly if/when that happens.

by the time i was 24, I already sported the hairline that my father had only achieved in his late 50's. by 30 all i can grow is a small horseshoe, so I shave and accept reality, BUT I am not bald, I have plenty of hair on my head, it's just not on top of my head :)

Looks like a cowlick to me ... but if you need an excuse to shave your head NOW, go for it! LOL.

I thought a cow lick was when hair at the front stood upright when around it it fell down

I'm seeing a full head of hair!

It's just a cowlick...I wouldn't lose sleep over it...

Actually both of them are cowlicks....Also, if a person has a neck tail on the nape of the neck that extends below the normal blockut line (usually in the dead center) that's considered to be a cowlick.

Hello: I am a barber. I looked at your photos.
No, that is not a bald spot; that is called your "crown" Everyone has at least one. Unfortunate guys have two of them. Your crown is where your head hair begins its growth pattern which is either clockwise or counter-clockwise
Yours is a nice crown. The only reason that you can see a tiny bit of skin down through it is because you have been blessed with such fantastically thick hair that it stands up off your scalp. It is too thick to lay down until it gets long enough that its own weight can cause it to lay over. You have the PERFECT HAIR FOR A FLATTOP!!!!!
Having sAid that, even though you have hair that some guys would kill for, if it bugs you - by all means shave it off!!! A shaved head is a perfectly legitimate haircut of choice. It would probably look great on you and you wouldn't have to worry about combing it and keeping it in place.
