Title: Close to taking the pludge
Post by: Eiseth on February 26, 2016, 09:11:34 AM
Hello everyone, first time poster here.

So it's finally happened, I'm going bald. Already at 25  I got a fairly noticeable bald spot and when I look at older pictures, I can clearly see that my hairline has been creeping further and further up my forehead... Not that it's much of a surprise. Almost all men in my family, on both my father and mothers side, started balding in their 20's, but I was hoping maybe I was the one to break off from the family curse.

But alas, I'm worried if I got the face/head to pull of a bald head! So I'm hoping I could get some feedback from you before I do anything too drastic

You have a good head of hair. If I were you I would start with a buzz at about a 2 or 3.

Welcome to the board, Eiseth.

The question you first need to answer is whether you are ready or even really want to shave right now. Your picture shows you still have a fairly full head of hair. Don't do something you call "drastic" just because you think it is what every man must do when he starts to lose his hair.

If you seriously want to shave, then pick up the razor and have at it. It is your hair and your head.

If you are not yet ready or even sure if this is something you want to do, then take your time and enjoy the hair you have while you have it. There is no need to be in a rush to do anything.

You definitely would look great bald, but as previous posters have said, only do it if its what you want to do, not because you think its what you should do. But heres to hoping you will, i think youd look great, even better than you do now, although you are a very good looking guy as is

You can always give it a try, it will grow back if you don't like.  But a short buzz may may the transition easier.  Are there other guys in your family that shave?  If there are shaved guys already, the shock will be less and the family comments will likely be better.

Might be worth trying out a shorter buzz to get a sense of what the head shape is like.

I agree with the others. Try a short buzz first, and it will give you an idea of what you may look like sly.

Do you have the head to go bald?  Take a look at your family members who ARE bold. Your inheritance will likely be similar. What do you think they look like.

Welcome. Keep this site bookmarked. Certainly some day you will want to come by and post your bald head profile picture on your account, now or later.

If you shave your head now, you can be BBC, while you still have a choice. Some of us shave our heads just because we like the style, not because we have to.

I disagree with the others.  You don't have a "full" head of hair; your forehead is more than half way back to your crown already.  I'll be honest; you don't look good like that.  Get rid of the scraps!

Head shape?  Good.   Check!
Razor? check!

Execute Plan A.  You will look great and you will feel even better.

Wow, thanks for all the responses!

Seems like the general consensus is that I got a chance to pull of a shaved head, which is what I was hoping for!

But I'll try to do a short buzz first and check out how it feels. Then if everything works out well, I'll probably be back with a nice, all shaved, after picture!

Again, thanks for the replies!

Gotta agree.  JUST DO IT !

Start buzzing it and as more goes, just buzz it tighter and finally lather and razor shave it smooth.

Guess I might as well resurrect this thread, as I did actually end up just buzzing my head two weeks ago!

After a rather bad haircut, I just said "I'm so done with this" and went straight home to buzz my head. It just feels wonderful! I so wish I did this two months ago when I first stalked around here!

I ended up convincing myself that it would be way too cold right now and I should wait until summer, but right now I'm quite certain I will shave it all in a month or so!

Congratulations on taking the first step Eiseth.  Now that you have gone this far you may find you will want to go sly sooner.

Looks really good man! Wish I could live with a short buzz length like that but I'm so OCD that after 2 days I feel uncomfortable and have to use a razor.
