Title: A Little Background (Mr. Clean)
Post by: JohnMont on August 24, 2007, 12:33:16 PM
These quotes are from the Wikipedia (Mr. Clean ) :

Mr. Clean is a brand name of a popular cleaning product. Mr Clean also makes a melamine foam cleaner under the name-brand of Magic Eraser.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genie ... The product's mascot is the character Mr. Clean, a muscular, tanned, bald man who cleans things very well. According to the company, his image is supposed to be that of a sailor, although most people think he is a genie based on his earring, folded arms, and tendency to magically appear at the appropriate time. Mr. Clean has always smiled on the packaging, except for a brief time in the mid 1960's when he was frowning on the package. He also has never talked.

So, Sailor?  Genie?  take your pic.  Anyway, RazorX makes a great look alike; though I think I make a good close 2nd.  Maybe we should have a look alike contest? ...

The image that conjures up is pretty funny, though I think it borders on cult-like.

Personally, I think a better idea would be for 15 guys to paint their heads different colors, stand close together in the shape of a traingle on a lawn, and someone take an aerial shot. It's look like a billiard table.  O0

Sorry, it's Friday and the work week has basically sucked.

Actually, Mr. Clean was originally based on a real dude (Leo Fishman) known as "The Duke of Catalina"

"The Duke of Catalina was born Leo Fishman in the Philippines to American parents in 1906. He came to Avalon in 1934 and fell in love with Catalina. He was a lifeguard in Avalon for decades and was noticed by movie producers and had many extra parts in some big movies including the 1934 Mutiny on the Bounty with Clark Gable, Ten Commandments, Spartucus, many TV spots and was the prototype of Mr. Clean. He was good friends with the other "Duke" John Wayne. Duke Wayne was 6'5" and Duke Fishman was 5'6". He died in 1977."

When I was a kid, my family vacationed on Catalina Island every summer.  We actually got to know him until he died in 1977 (I was 15).

I love that place.....practically grew up there.
