Hey there guys.
I have been shaving my head once a week, for 4 months now at home. I used to always shave againts the grain but have finally learnt my lesson and will never do that again.
I noticed that the back of my head has these little lumps and looks so rough as a result of always shaving againts the grain. Its as if the skin on the back of my head has gone damaged.
Im willing to stop shaving for a maximum of 1 month. Do you think in this period of time the skin will heal and go back to normal or is it forever damaged.
Furthermore is there any medications or treatments that i could apply to it.
I am so worried right now about this. I have attatched some images.
Thanks

Man I have that same kind of bumps in the back of my head. I don't exactly know what causes them, probably clogged pores. No worries! I've shaved my head for over a year and a half and have gotten used to them.

Probably it's not good to shave 7-days-grown hairs against the grain. They have about 2 or 3 millimeter and it's a little too long for the shaving against the grain especially for the scalp of the beginner, I think. You have to shave them in the direction of the grain first, then against. Otherwise you should shave more often, all 2 or 3 days, so that the hairs aren't too much long for the shaving against the grain.
I've been shaving my head almost every day against the grain since one and a half year. I skip my routine only sometimes. If I skip it more than 2 days, I shave in the direction of the grain first.

What do you do after you shave? I mean, what kind of aftershave or methods do you do after the razor?
-
I wash my head and dry it in the sink. Then I use brut aftershave. I then wait one hour before having a shower. Once Im.done with that ill apply vaseline lotion to my head. The following morning I will apply oil. Furthermore will these lumps heal and disappear or are they permanent.

I would invest in Bump Patrol sold in a blue bottle. Usually bumps clear up in about 72 hours. Also, try rubbing your head with an ice cube after you shave.

Those bumps look like what my dermatologist calls "folliculitis" They are "angry" hair follicles or pores. They will most certainly heal. Bump patrol will speed healing. Some of this is caused by the amount of oil and lotion you are using. You are clogging your own pores and follicles.

I agree. Lay off the oil.

Personally , I never shave against the grain ,the back of my head. I found it caused itching. Never have a problem any more.Takes half the time to shave and less wear and tear on razor.I also only shave every other or third day. It gives your scalp time to heal.I try not to be o.c.d. About shaving.

I used to get the same, as said, cut out or down, on the oil. Exfoliate, works wonders... and try shaving in the shower, I did all of the above and I can now shave atg every day without an issue....bump patrol is very good....also try an alum block, very good

I recommend shaving in the shower. The hair seems to come off much easier which means less irritation/bumps.

I can't seem to get much of a shave at all unless I shave against the grain, so I go ATG every time I shave. My skin can be sensitive, but the ATG shaving hasn't given me much trouble so far. I only shave my head every other day, so we'll see how it goes once I switch to daily head-shaving...

I typically get bumps the longer I go between shaves. I used to do every other day or three days and would get quite a few bumps. I started shaving everyday last month and hardly ever get bumps anymore.
