No one has discussed this yet so I thought I'd mention it. I'm visiting family and they have a great water system. The water is soft and I'm telling you, I'm getting one Hell of a great shave in the morning. My head is as slick as a freshly peeled onion when I'm through with the Headslick and the Schick.

I thought about that but didnt mention it anywhere. When I took off and went to florida I noticed a different in the water at the hotels we stayed at. It was a much smoother shave and the shaving lotion really foams up too...dont need to use as much with softer water. But yes at home with my hardwater..i do a hot pre rinse to soften it up and then after wards..i rinse with cold water and an ice cube an then top it off with aloe vera gel. Makes the dome really shiney.

I'd never considered it, but now that you mention it, it makes sense. We've had those water tests done at our house where guys were trying to sell us a water softener. They always mentioned how shampoos and soaps would last longer since you didn't have to use as much. Also, you always notice with soft water that it feels almost like you still have soap on your hands after you rinse. They told us that was because you didn't have all of the soapy residue left over. So I would imagine that it would give you a better shave.

Noticed a difference to0 skinhead when shaving with different types of water. This is the first summer sly for me and I noticed I got a much better shave up north where our water is from natural soft springs vs this lime filled hard water of Illinois.

That would explain why I don't get as good of a shave sometimes when I travel, even though I'm using my same routine.

Good point, and it makes sense. Before the wife and I moved in here with my grandmother to help her out we had just bought our first house. It already had a water softener system in it. I can definitely tell a difference from using the water here. It was like I had put some lotion on my body or something like that after getting out of the shower back at our house. Pretty cool. So yeah, I guess that can make a big difference in the quality of shave you get.

I'm going to have to get a water soften hooked up after my water in line.... wonder how much one would cost

hard water leaves mineral deposits on your shaving blades.

I've noticed it when I travel. Most hotels use water softeners. I got a better shave.
