Title: Desperately clinging on or still some time?
Post by: Gutts1985 on April 21, 2015, 03:41:34 PM
Hi guys,

So i'm about to hit 30 in 2 months. And if you told me on my last birthday i'd be contemplating this, i probably would have sobbed like a little girl. But honestly its starting to annoy me enough that I'm at least on the fence. I've had medium to long hair my whole life. Lots of head banging in mosh pits, free flowing mane and the like. So it definitely pains me I'm at this impasse. But my nightmare is slowly becoming 'The Baldy Man' and my friends and family not having the heart to tell me. So if its Chinatown then so be it.

My main concern is I'm skinny, pale and facial hair challenged. Sincerely i cant grow so much as a decent 5 o'clock shadow. What do guys think?

Let me know what

Welcome.  When has got to be your decision.  My suggest is to give it a 30 day try.

On the facial hair comment - how long have you gone without shaving?  Some guys, like myself, have slow growing beards that don't look like much for the first month or two, but fill in OK after three months.  Also, at 30 my cheeks were very sparse, but I could grow a goatee and mustache.  My cheeks did not fill in until my mid 40's.

upto you. Your hairline reminds me of mins a few years back but i also had a lovely bald spot too. my hair just started going further and further back and it bothered me as I couldn't have the hair I wanted, which was my main reason for going to a crop. I was about 30 in this pic. However in some ways the crop made the receeding and bald spot bother me more. It was easier for me to say goodbye as especially from the back it looked awful

It sounds like you've come to the realization that you are going to a have your head at some point; the only remaining question is when.  I suggest sooner rather than later.  Postponing only means more time to agonize and obsess over it, during which time your appearance will only suffer.  Shave it now and you'll instantly feel better.  Guys comment all the time that they wish they'd done it sooner.  I have yet to hear anyone say they wish they'd hung onto their thinning hair for a while longer.
