Title: Not really new to the forum
Post by: Cueball77 on December 27, 2014, 05:21:23 PM
I'm not "new" to the forum. Just been gone for a while. I was on here back in 2009 before I went to Iraq. When I got back things were just too hectic to get back on. I'm back and still Sly. Hope everyone has had a great Christmas!

Welcome (back)! Glad to see you return, and thanks for your service

P.S. I spent all but a few days of 2010 in Iraq myself.

Welcome home Cueball and thanks for your service.  I am thankful also that you came home.

I spent a lot of 2009 in Iraq as well.

Thank you for all the well wishes. But I have to clarify, I was a contractor. I was not active duty. I was one of the country leads for Biometric Identification System for Access (BISA) and Biometric Automated Toolset (BAT).

Sir Harry, I was in Iraq from October 2010 to October 2011.

We left Iraq in mid-December 2010...made it home less than a week before Christmas. The contractor jobs to me were just as important because you guys kept the "little things" going for us.

Where were you stationed? I was at FOB Edge until Feb 2011. The. I was mostly running missions from Baghdad.

If you arrived in October 2010, I was at FOB Prosperity (where Saddam's former palace is/was). I spent the first six months at Tallil before our unit was reassigned. I did convoy security missions for the contractor trucks and in the later part of the deployment I did base security.

I trained a lot of the POE personnel on BAT and BISA.

Good stuff! While I was based at Prosperity for the last six months, most of my missions were to Mosul and escorting UN dignitaries. I have some photos from Iraq I can show if you'd like.

I have many pictures. I trained Al Maliki in biometrics. Have a flag that was flown over the Victory Over America palace. And a picture with me on the Iran border. Many good times and great people. I mostly went on some missions to other FOBs and random locations. I have set foot on 90% of the FOBs in Iraq. Was stationed last at Baghdad near the helo pad close to the Al Faw (sp) palace.

I retired from the military at the end of 2012....but I wouldn't trade my two trips over there (2004-05/2010) for anything. In 2005 I was stationed at Camp Liberty by BIAP. Our mission constantly changed, but thankfully, our base never did.
