Title: Summer Tours
Post by: Bald_freak on August 09, 2007, 04:03:48 PM
There are alot of concert going on right now. Family Values Tour, Ozzfest, lallapalooza, etc.
Anyone going to or have seen any cool shows this summer? Any wild stories about the show, or about getting there?

Static X is playing tonight 5 minutes from here. I'm going to the Slayer/Manson Show on Saturday!!! supposed to be the evilest tour ever(according to Revolver Magazine anyway). Can't wait. The 3 hour drive to Detroit is gonna suck though.

I wish I could catch a tour right now.  With my wife pregnant and us remodeling the house, it's not the best time.   :'(

Here's Manson on my cameraphone ... 5 rows behind the pit (center stage).

My concert going days are basically over...although, I am hoping to go to the Alpine Valley Buffet show in 2008 (B-Rob, you listening?). Overall, I'm having a hard time justifying a C-Note for a show, not including parking, beer, food, and the overpriced cheesy t-shirt. The last name concert I went to was a jazz concert at the Wente Winery in July 2007. It was great for many reasons: 1) Favorite Jazz Band was the headliner, The Rippingtons 2) Wente is where the lovely Mrs. Schro & I were married, 3) it was her birthday. Needless to say, I was all good that day (and night).  8)

November 2003:  Living Color & King Crimson

July 2004:  Rush

March 2007:  Railbenders (met up with Tyler for this'n)

Man, What I would give to go to a concert or gig of any kind. Have not been to one in well over a year. Last one I went to was Lawrence Arms/Frenzal Rhomb last December. Having a kid really takes away your time.

Last time I saw Slayer was Nov '00 Columbus Ohio at Newport Theatre.

Opening Act was Hatebreed.

I am a big time music lover and simi retired professional musician.  There are a few hundres acts I'd like to see.  I agree with Schro (can't believe that) on ticket prices.  I still have a ticket stub where I paid $15 to see Jimi Hendrix in Dallas, Thanksgiving night 1968.

Here's my promised review:

Bleeding through was the openning band. I'm not really a big fan of death/black metal, but they did a good job, alot of crowd participation. As the sun started to set at The Detroit Energy Music Theatre Slayer took the stage. Slayer came out  and blasted the crowd with thier amazing display of hard core instremental skill and endend thier set with a deafening bang. Manson Began with "If I was your Vampire", set to a gothic themed stage including candles and a clock/moon screen show. From there he went into "Disposeable teens" and "Mobscene". After that the stage went dark. When the lights came back on, M.M. was on top of a giant Alice in Wonder Land themed chair, at which point he broke out with "Are you the Rabbit?" The light went off again and M.M. switched on a wierd spotlight helmet and sung "Sweet dreams" in the dark. He ended the song with the chorus to "lunch box". The lights returned with a screen of giant flames and M.M. singing "just a Car Crash Away", followed by "Rock is Dead". An explosion of heart shaped red confetti sprayed the crowd as he went into"Heart shaped glasses". Then proceeded with "Dope Show" including a vid of raining pills, followed by "Putting Holes in Happiness". "The Fight Song" had some technical difficulties with the boxing stlyled mic Manson was using, which he discarded before singing "The Love Song". At this point the lights switch to strobe half way through "The Reflecting God". During which M.M. is lifted about 60' into the air by a cloud of steam(In my opinion, the coolest part of the show). Finally his classic podium is brought out where he does "Anti Christ Super Star" and ending with "The Beautiful People".

Yep ... same as the show he put on in Atlanta except he cut out the Fight Song and Beautiful people.  Sadly these are two of my favorites  :'(
