has anyone ever tried using hair on there head to achieve the smooth look?

I used it on my chest once. It did a nice job but left a bunch of small and uncomfortable chemical burns. I don't think I'll be doing that again! Especially not on my head!

I don't know where I read it but wherever it was the writer either said that the original Nair was OK for use on the dome or that Nair made a different preparation that was safe for use on the dome.
When I think about it I don't know why the scalp would be any more or less sensitive than thigh skin.
Maybe just try it on a small patch of scalp first to see the effects. Make sure you keep us posted.

Oh, no and after that, Hell no. Do not use Nair or any chemical depilatory on your head. There is abroad in the land a notion that skin is skin, wherever it is, but that is not true. The skin on your head was made to be shaded and protected by hair. For men who are actually bald there is a transformation as your hair goes away from a more tender, thin skin to something more robust, thicker. Of course this is in response to sun light, air, many variables. When those of us who shave our heads first do so, one of the major problems can be very severe sunburn. The chemicals in Nair stand in for the sun save that they were meant to be penetrative, get to the follicle of the problem. For a really nasty chemical burn and quite possibly scarring, use this product, check the ingredients on the label; When you see a word such as "acid" assume that it has some capacity to be caustic. To paraphrase Nancy Reagan, "Just Don't Do It".

Stay away from that crap. I tried it on my chest and nearly burned my nipples off. Granted, I should have read the directions ... But I wouldn't put that near my head.

NO, Don't use it on your head. Knew someone that tried it. It made red sores randomly over his head took weeks to heal and was painful to even have water on it afterwards and it didn't even remove all the hair.

I only know of one such product that is marketed for the head - Magic Shave Bald Head. I have tried it, it did not burn and removed the hair, but not as smooth as a good blade shave. Try on a small area to see how you skin reacts befor using on the entire head.
Razorless cream shave formulated to help stop razor bumps and to give a closer shave than a razor and maintain bald head styles.

I once seriously considered using Nair on my head. (After all, all those cute women in short shorts in the commercials seemed to think it was a fun experience and worked great for getting them smooth.)
Then my eldest daughter showed me how she used it on her legs. The chemical smell alone was enough to chase me away. Next she showed me how messy it was and how you had to scrape the stuff off in order for it to work. I could only imagine how difficult it would be to duplicate what she was doing on her straight legs on my rounder scalp and in places I could not see. Plus, there was no way I ever would put that caustic and odoriferous a substance near my eyes or nostrils.
I will continue to enjoy the smell of the lather and the feel of the blade.

I had the same experience. Could barely stand wearing a shirt for days!

I suspect the video is a hoax. I find it hard to believe anyone would leave shampoo in their hair as long as it takes for Nair to work. Also hard to believe he did not read to bottle since the Nair was left in its container. If not left on long enough, the hair will be damaged, but will not be removed. My guess is that he intended to remove his hair with Nair, got the burns, and decided to make a video. This guy has a lot of videos and it has advertisements.
BTW - I am not recommending anyone try this.

Nair is not a good idea on your head. The video shows what most people would end up with if they use it on their head.
As slybeard said I think he was trying to use it to remove his hair. Its interesting that he still has eyebrows and no sores elsewhere other than on his head. When most people use shampoo they wash their hair and use it like a soap on their face.
The guy In the video should keep it shaved after it heals he looks fine without hair and then no more shampoo incidents. ;)
