Title: New to forum - New to bald
Post by: Lowbrow on July 09, 2014, 02:42:56 PM
Hi All!

I am a 63 year old male.  About 15 years ago I started losing my hair in the front along both sides of the top.  A friend of mine with a similar situation got a buzz cut and it looked pretty sharp.  I asked him about it and he said it was easy.  After hemming and hawing for a few weeks, I took the plunge and never looked back.

Fast forward 15 years, my hair line was continuing to retreat and my curiosity about head shaving was advancing.  I spent many days reading about and watching videos of head shaving.  I found HeadBlade's web site and learned all I could about it.  I then went out and bought the ATX and Slick at Walgreen's.

After a few more days of weighing the pros and cons and mustering courage, at the beginning of an extended July 4 weekend, I thought I would stick one toe in the water.  I have been shaving my face with a Braun Series 7 shaver and had nightmare memories of shaving with a blade when I was in my teens.  So I started on my head with the same clippers, sans comb, that I used to give myself a buzz cut.  I then went to work on my head with the Braun.  Passable results to the eye, but I could tell it wasn't blade close.

Six days later, today, after shaving my head this morning with the Braun I came home from work and decided to try the HeadBlade.  I had concerns about a small bump near the crown of my head that has been there for years, but what the heck!

The shave was amazing thanks to all the advice I got from all the generous posters on this site.  The HeadSlick made the operation easier than expected.  The small bump did bleed a little, but stopped with a quick treatment.

I followed up with a cold water rinse and an aftershave oil concoction that I found on megaoils.com which consists of Jojoba oil, Sandalwood oil, Lavender oil and clove oil to which I added Eucalyptus oil.  I rubbed that into my wet head and let it air dry.  The oil soaks into the scalp and keeps it moist, leaving a nice natural shine.

Bald is beautiful (even though there is not much hope for the rest of me)!

Welcome to the really sly side.

Moving from stubble to smooth is a rite of passage to be sure. I'm a huge fan of HeadBlade and HeadSlick. No looking back.

I was also 63 when I first shaved and I had been keeping my hair short before that.  Nearly 10 years further on I am still shaved and wouldn't have it any other way.  I have had my beard for 48 years.

Welcome to SBG a really great bunch of guys -and the occasional gal - and I hope you continue to enjoy the shaved dome. Post a pic when you can.
