next month is the kickoff of college football season. just wondering if u r BIG TIME college football fans like me. as an avid sports fan, there is nothing better than college football. anyways.... i am a big FLORIDA STATE FAN. GO NOLES!!!
yeah... i know we haven't been dominating these past 4-6 years but i am a true SEMINOLE fan through good times & bad. i hate bandwagon fans that only support there teams when they r winning. i'm a true fan. GO NOLES!!!

In college football I go for the Ohio State Buckeyes,have since I was old enough to know what football was. The Horseshoe stadium in Columbus has claimed some of my best memories growing up,tailgating,cold Sunday home games with crowds nearly in the 100,000 mark.Great atmosphere.

well warhawk, iam not much into college games, but i guess since iam from pa., i watch nfl games. i like the steelers or the eagles, but if pittsburgh doesnt play better this season, iam doing away with them.

my old man was an ardent LSU fan. Used to coat his AMC Gremlin car in the Purple and Gold and drive around Baton Rouge singing the Fight for LSU song.

Nothing beats college football in my opinion, as you can tell by my screen name GO DAWGS. My grandad lettered in basketball, baseball, and football at UGA....back when they played on both sides of the ball and didn't wear helmets. He started taking taking me to games in '80 when i was @ 12. We went to four games that year when Herschel was a freshman and we won it all. I have been hooked ever since.

so what do you guys think is the second best conference? SEC is easily the best/hardest conference. so i was wondering which one may be second. oh yeah tyler, btw, bring usc to the sec and see how much they can really live up to the HYPE. cause we all know it is just that, HYPE. >:D

paulie.... i'm NOT a sec guy but i will admit that the sec is the best & most competitive football conference. i'll give u my opinion on the 2nd best conference later because i got 2 get ready 4 work. later!!!

Sorry Paulie but the The Big 10 conference is by far the hardest and most well respected in college football.Michigan,Ohio State and Purdue!! The Midwest consistently produces the top college football teams. I think the SEC is probably 3rd or 4th

Ohio State Buckeye fan here.
But don't forget there are a LOT of small schools out there. Mount Union Purple Raiders rule the small school class. At last count they have won something like 9 of the last 14 national titles and recently had a 55 and a 54 game winning streaks; longest in college football history.
And the Youngstown State Penguins are consistent winners, winning four national 1AA titles before Jim Tressle left for Ohio State.
And the Big Ten (11) is the toughest conference out there.

i luv & respect everyone's opinion on favorite football team & best conference. 1st let me say i'm NOT a sec guy at all. i've lived in big ten country (chicagoland area) and now live in beautiful florida & i was able 2 witness each conference big10,sec, & acc. the sec is by far the best & most competitive football conference from top 2 bottom.
last i heard.... a sec team demolished a big ten team in the bcs championship. it wasn't even close. a blow out!!! again.... i'm a die-hard FLORIDA STATE fan. i know.... we haven't been dominate the past 5-6 years but we will b back. u wait & c. my loyalty is to FSU & i know that the acc is not the best football conference. but i would put the acc conference in the top 4 football conferences, IMO.
tyler's usc trojans will probably b a pre-season #1 or #2 but i would put paulie's lsu preseason #3 or #4....simply because they lost a bunch of players 2 the nfl especially their qb jamarcus russell.
i'm luving all your opinions 2 this post. college football is very dear 2 my heart. so....keep it clean and keep posting. GO NOLES!!! O0 O0 O0

BIG SEC FAN here! I have always supported UK (yes, we do have a football team, and we're getting better), but during bowl season, I make it a point to watch any SEC team and root for them; after all can't root for them during hoops season! I also have an interest in Notre Dame since that's one of the great memories I have of my Grandpa - watching ND football on Saturdays.
However, I've been gettin' a lot of pressure to support Louisville football since I moved to Louisville, but my heart bleeds BLUE baby!

As usual, no body respects the Pac-10. But, that's alright since we're usually in the championship anyways. I wish they would actually have a March Madness style bracket to show how kick ass the Pac-10 really is.

yeah, that's actually why I'm a Trojan fan instead of a UCLA fan. It was too far to drive from Malibu to Pasadena for games. Much shorter to drive to the Coliseum.

I'm excited too Warhawk! Maybe it's because the Braves are sucking once again, but I really enjoyed flipping back & forth between the LSU-MSU game and the Louisville-Murray St game last night. Louisville looked impressive - 73 points! I'm not a UofL fan but holy crap, that was a fun game to watch. I'm kinda looking forward to the UT-Cal game tomorrow night.

He could only come up with one idea... to be placed at the University of Notre Dame because it's a proven fact that they can't beat anyone!!!

It's gotta be our local team, the UNM Lobos
We have had a couple of bowl appearances, but suck when it comes to TV time.
Went to a game against Texas Tech that was televised and they played horribly.
On the plus side, Bears defensive star Brian Urlacher is a UNM alum, as is Hank Baskett, WR for the Philadelphia Eagles. Both were born and raised right here in New Mexico.

I couldn't believe when I saw that score! As a USC fan, I can say that we don't deserve the #1 spot after that loss.

i saw the AP POLL on espn. it has USC dropped all the way to #10. seems abit extreme to drop that much. guess we will see what the coaches poll and the bcs poll has to say.

ugabulldog....good point. i believe that there will b two teams with atleast 1 loss a piece in the BCS championship game. this will b a 1st. every week is playoff-type atmosphere which makes college football superior than the nfl. i was at work but i seen highlights of the lsu vs kentucky 3OT game. man....that was a helluva game. scott.... i know that u r celebrating kentucky's win.

nomad....it is a possibility. especially every week....it seems that top 10 teams keep losing each week. look one happen 2weeks ago, last week, & 2day (lsu losing 2 kentucky). oh...and there r still a number of games that haven't been completed yet. oregon state leads california 31-28 with 28 seconds left. btw CAL is ranked # 2.

With so many players leaving after last years team, I thought the Buckeyes would have lost at least a couple of games. But their defense has given up more then 7 points only once. I don't think they are the best in college football, but they are the only undefeated team (let's forget South Florida for now).
But my allegiance also goes to Kent State (who the Buckeyes beat today), my son is a student there.
And don't forget the Mount Union Purple Raiders. They are the BEST team in college football (Division 3) as they won their 65th straight game today beating Wilmington 59-0.

C-A-T-S, CATS, CATS, CATS!!! Sorry Paulie, but that was by far one of the greatest moments in Kentucky's football history... it's been a historical year for the Big Blue. My boys had me nervous though I really though we'd get beat by 2 TD's but I knew if we were still in the game late, we'd have a chance. I was on the edge of my seat during all 3 OT's and man oh man I thought LSU was gonna win when UK went for the 2pt conversion in the third OT and didn't get it. I cannot believe I'm typing this next statement but we actually have a chance of making it to the SEC Championship Game if we can knock off Florida next week (in Lexington) and then beat either UGA or UT!!! Oh yeah, and Big Blue Madness was last night and we had over 23,000 people in Rupp Arena for a "practice" - we're crazy for our Cats baby!

More upsets again this week, the BCS will have fun trying to figure this season out. And Ohio State is still number one! They sure tried to join in with the upsets though. 24-0 lead then 2 quick turnovers for TD's for MSU and all most lost a third one.
And Mount Union make it 66 wins in a row winning a close one to Baldwin Wallace 35-0. This was actually their closest game of the season.

Did anyone see the KU Nebraska game today? Seems like everyone around here is a KU fan and are we pumped this year.
I heard an amazing stat... during the decade of the 80's, Kansas had only scored a total of 67 points in 10 games against Nebraska, and today they rang up 76 points in one game. I hope that KU and Mizzou remain undefeated until they meet on November 24th. It could be a helluva game.

I find the college sport system in the US amazing, and one of the reasons that we struggle to compete sometimes on an international stage over here. The UK equivalent of a college game is a very amateur soccer game with fifteen people or so standing in the freezing cold watching on the sidelines.
Fundamentally this means that very few professional athletes come through the university system, particularly not in our biggest sports. A subject, as a sports consultant i could rant about all day, but that would be very dull for the rest of you so i wont lol @c3

i am actually more worried about the possibility of playing oregon in the championship than i was ohio. not calling oregon a sleeper (they do have a very strong program). but they are just not one of the schools normally associated with the top rankings are they?

Not normally, but just goes to show you how strong the Pac-10 is. Oregon usually finishes second or third in the Pac-10 behind USC.

Two more upsets this weekend. Ohio State moves up 2 more spots. Kansas and Missouri play next weekend, the Bucks move up one more spot. That winner has to play in the conference championship and will probably lose (if not, LSU probably will blow it), up to #3. No way will the polls pick West Virginia over Ohio State with both having one lose. So you can count on the Ohio State University playing the national championship again.
And Ohio State has the 2nd best defense in the country giving up only 10 points a game. Mount Union has the best giving up 2.4 points a game. They have six shutouts and outscored the opponents 554-24 in the regular season. They beat Ithaca 42-18 in a division 3 playoff game Saturday.

Missouri just became my wife's favorite college team. We forgot Gary Pinkel was coaching at Missouri. They were in the same graduating class at Akron Kenmore High School in 1970. So her classmate now coaches the #1 team in the country.

That MU - KU game was something else. I'm from Missouri and live in KS. I was for MU and my son is a big KU fan. Now he needs to cheer for MU so that KU will have a chance at a BCS bowl.
