Title: New Forum Look
Post by: Tyler on June 26, 2014, 03:40:08 AM
Hey guys,

As you probably have noticed we now have a new look and feel to the forum.  In all honesty I wasn't planning on doing this as there will be more changes down the road, but in an effort to cut down even further on spam I tried to install a new anti-spam method and completely destroyed the registration process.

Since I was unable to fix the registration process I was forced to completely upgrade the forum to the latest software.  Though, I do like this theme a little better as it feels cleaner and it's not all hacked up like the other theme I had.

There will continue to be more changes over the next couple of days as I'm approaching 3 AM here and I need to sleep.  If you realize something is missing let me know and I'll try to add it back in.

Hi Tyler:    I love the new look.  I noticed that the number of posts is not shown in our avatars.  I think it would be great if you can show each members number of posts, again.

Hi Tyler:  Also, would it be possible if you can also include and show the latest top 25 current posts.  I always loved it when the old site displayed the latest, current 25 discussions/threads/posts.

Very refreshing style. Seems much more contemporary and as timeless as Slyness.

I like the new look but sadly it has not stopped the spam.   :Xo!

Why are the avatar photos truncated?

That should be fixed now.  I somehow turned the no-spam mod off.   :/O

It's back on now.

Why are the avatar photos truncated?

This theme only allows up to 160px wide for the avatar, yet the old theme allowed up to 300.  I couldn't find a way to have the forum resize the avatars to fit.

Time to resize mine.

By the way...the new theme looks good on a mobile browser as well.

So, does this mean that Mel might finally have to change his avatar?  :*))

Hi Tyler:  Did the new look of SBGs effect the use of Tapatalk?  I have tried several times today and I was not able to use the Tapatalk version of SBGs.

When I got on just now, I thought my computer was glitching again but I kinda like it. I haven't checked it out on my phone yet but for some reason it seems like it'll be easier as well.

I haven't turned Tapatalk back on yet.  I wanted people on mobile to try this first.

I just started with tapatalk recently. Been away from my laptop, so just using tapatalk and wondered why it seemed to no longer work!

Sunday I get back home to my normal computer(s).

I like the new design, but, for some reason, my ticker in my signature is shrunken in size...Not sure how to fix it...

Images in general (photos, etc) seem to be reduced, which is a bit of a problem IMO.

Hi Tyler:  Can you make the TapaTalk available, again?  I absolutely love the new forum look but when I install a pic; it is so much easier on TapaTalk.

Hi Tyler:  Could you bring back the "Store" icon so we can order some SBG T-Shirts?

I like the new look but I have two suggestions:

1) After making a post the site should redirect me to the last page of the thread, but instead it dumps me back to the main page of the subform that I am viewing.  Both the old and the new versions worked this way.

2) The Quote button which is used for replying to a specific post in a thread ought to be located on the lower righthand corner of a post instead of the upper righthand.  On the old UI this was especially confusing because there was little in the UI to show that post the Quote button belonged to.  Even though the new UI makes it more obvious, I still think it should be moved to the lower righthand corner.
