Hey SBGs,
I've had a receding hairline and an ever growing bald spot on the back/top of my head ever since my late teens and now with 28 i have pretty much a giant forehead that stretches to the back of my head. I never really paid it too much attention and always had my hair around 15-20mm's. For the last 4 years i just used the hair clippers from Philipps that i had for facial hair with the head hair attachment that came with it to keep it short ( or sometimes let it grow out for some time because i was just lazy and didn't care about it ), so I've been running around with a 3mm-10mm cut for a while.
I am thinking about shaving the rest of it off, but i haven't had a wet shaving in years and that's pretty much the reason i joined.
I need some pointers about how to get started without cutting my head up too much.
I've read some threads here and a lot of people seem to recommend the Headblade razors or the Gillette razors, so I'll probably try one of those.
But what, other than a razor and shaving creme do you guys recommend to start out with? Do you use an after shave same as for facial hair? Other skin care products?
How much money/month do you guys spend on shaving stuff?.
Another problem i want to ask you guys about is that i have some moles and a hemangioma on my head. The hemangioma should be a problem because it sticks out quiet far, but the moles are only little bumps, will they be a problem when i am wetshaving?
And my last question is, what do you guys do against sweating on the heat. During summer we have high humidity which makes me sweat a lot. So far the hair i have left was helping by absorbing a lot of it. I also started using sunscreen on my head because during summer 2 years ago i got a really painful sunburn on my head. And having sunscreen running into my eyes with my sweat is not really something i am looking forward to.
I hope you guys can help me out with some information.

Welcome, MrKm!
Some guys spend a lot of money on products, and some don't. You will have to experiment a little and find what works for you. As you already noticed, there is already a great deal of information on this forum that can help as you look through it.
I personally think you could benefit by using no guard on your clippers to start. From there, you can use a razor that you are already familiar with and comfortable using... and a creme for sensitive skin. I don't have any moles or hemangiomas but I have had cuts on my head at times and had luck just covering them with a finger while shaving, so I would not cut into them.
I live in Florida, where humidity is usually very high and the sun can be intense. I do use sunscreen when I know I will be in the sun for a long period of time, and have to admit...sometimes it roles into my eyes and burns when I'm sweating... but this would have happened when I still had hair too (if I had sunscreen on my forehead).
I'm sure some others will be glad to share their successes and favorite products. Thanks for posting and good luck with your venture!

Welcome, Mr. Km! Here are a few basic tips to get you started:
1. Make sure your scalp is nice and wet before shaving (hot water, during or after a shower will also help)
2. After you shave, rub your head with an ice cube in addition to any after shave you may use
3. As far as the bumps/hemaginoma, see a dermatologist. They can help you and tell you whether or not those will be issues and can probably give you some medication or remove them depending on the cost.
Good luck!
