Well; it's official. I am now Sly and remaining that way!
My barber called and asked if I was O.K. inasmuch as he is used to seeing me every single Saturday morning getting my High, Tight and Brutal Horseshoe Flattop in the Summer and my Princeton crew cut in the Winter. I explained that I was thinking of staying bald for at least the next 6 months. EVEN THOUGH IT MEANS LESS MONEY FOR HIM - MY BARBER SAID; "GO FOR IT, YOU LOOK GOOD WITH A SHAVED HEAD AND A BEARD"! He said that he would even bend his rule about not doing shaves on Saturday, (because the shop is so busy that it is booked solid for three weeks in advance) if I wanted to come in for a head shave now and again!
My Deputy Commander came into my office today on official business and he remarked that he thought it looked really good - and he even likes the new earring. He said that his wife want's him to get an earring!
I visited my mother this evening and she has stopped crying about my shaved head, (really, that is no joke!).
So, I have decided. I am staying BBC. I know that deep down that is what I have wanted all along. I want to feel clean. I want to be free of the OCD of my haircut. I want to let my inner Baddass out!
I am Hairy-no-More. I have changed my SBG name from "Hairy1" to BBBA (Bald Bearded Badass).
I will continue to go to a Barber at least once a week to have my head professionally shaved and my beard trimmed and crisply lined-up. Beyond that, I am going to try to learn how to shave this thing myself once a week in between barbershop visits. That is it. I am not going to obsess about it beyond that.
I have decided to thumb my nose at turning 60 and to "LET MY FREAK FLAG FLY"!:
-This weekend I will be taking my motorcycle safety course. After that I can start riding my HD Road King.
-I have made an appointment to get a new tattoo - another half sleeve.
-I have made reservations to go to Bike Week at Sturgis.
-I have my ticket to attend Burning Man in August.
-I am going to crew on a Tall Ship (the Oliver Hazard Perry) for one week in September.
And I am doing all of it with my beautiful gleaming bald head!!!!!

Wow, Randy, nice story! It's amazing how bald can grow on a person....Enjoy it all!

Wow! That's pretty inspiring...But there is something about shaving in connection with positive life changes. When you link the one with the other, it all starts to make so much sense! I know I am thrilled to be no longer working as an attorney AND shaving the dome every day.

Congradulations on turning 60. I bet that You look a lot younger now that you are sly. People have told me that I look younger since I initially shaved the dome.

Wow, I thought you were going to give it up, but good for you. I recently turned 60 too, and am BBC. I also wore a flattop for years. I guess at our age, you should just do what you like, enjoy your bald head, and once you start to shave it yourself you might find the process enjoyable. I hated shaving my face, but I can't wait to shave the noggin everyday.

Well done. Good decision. Shaving yourself will be so easy for you after a few attempts.
Now, one thing, can you rotate your Picture as my neck hurts!! lol

Conratulations. The classic turning 60 story - new shaved head, new earring, new tattoo, plans to do all those things you've put off for years.Go for it.
And yes my neck is getting a crick in it from the photo.

Wow. Bold story. I like it.
I'm 60 too. Have an earring. (love it). BBC.
I think Nuts is a little jealous of the earring. I've heard drift of a few other guys planning earrings this year.
They just seem to fit with a bald head.
Welcome. Hope you stick around the encourage others with your story and experiences.
PS, you can use the FREE Irfanview software to rotate the picture.

Son works for HD and we often have a dig at each other: Him and HD and me on the Jap bikes.
Stay safe on the Road King BBBA - nice bike I have to admit.

Very cool story.
