Title: OK all...I took a new approach to shaving!
Post by: Timmay on August 01, 2007, 08:36:45 AM
Ok I got up this morning and I was shaving my head in the shower...I then got out and stood in front of the sink and without giving it a second thought...i was shaving my face and then just went zip right across the goatee.  I hadnt even thought about it this morning..it was just one of those things..I said hell with it..if it doesnt look good it will grow back.   Then when I was done..i thought Man my stache looks huge....so i trimmed it way down too.  Like I have said before I have had the stache since i was like 14 and have never had it trimmed down this thin before.  So let me know of all the reaction from you all.
Oh and another thing...I guess I did this ( shaving of the goatee)  for all of you who are worried what your head will look like shaved.  It will grow back....just take my approach....I shaved my goatee without second thougth this morning..not knowing what it was going to look like.  Of course I will get responses from some who will say grow it back and others who will say it looks even more sly.  Really it doesnt matter...as long as I am happy wiht the look.  And I must say..when I did shave my goatee and trimmed my stache down..it brought back memories that I had the first day I shaved my dome...SOOOO SMMOOOOOOOOOOOOTH!  Feels great...so go for it...take the plunge...
ROCK ON!

Timm, like I said in the other thread...looks 100% better, you look younger and way clean...I say loose the pencil stache and just go the "Mr. Clean" route...

it really does look better on you O0

Hey Brother Tim, I'm with Andre;   get rid of the 'pencil stache' look (very old fashioned) and go Mr. Clean.  You do look younger without the goatee.   The Mr. Clean look is definitely for you (and I'm sure I'll be trying it myself soon)

Tim,

I echo what all the other guys are saying, Shave it clean , lose the stache', It makes you look way younger and neater. Go the Mr. Clean route like BA says.
Looking good and sly.

Ditto what the guys said about ditching the pencil stache.  It''s not you.  The hairless face looks good, and definitely younger.

Tim I think the smooth face looks suits you better than the stache.

Damn that is some heavy shine bro, I'm jealous,What do you use for your shiney dome?

Thanks again you all.  To anwswer some questions...the wifey doesnt say much...she just says i am bald all over now.  What do I use on my dome?  Nothing special at all.  I use the headslick shaving lotion.....cold water rinse...then pure aloe vera gel.  I cant decide if the shinny dome is a good thing or what? I want things to appear as natural as it can. I dont want to go thru a bunch of different steps to achieve a look.  No time for it .  But I am really diggin the bald face look too....but damn it just kills me to shave the stash...only because it is the most sensitive area on my face and feels like I am ripping my upper lip off.  But I WILL HANG IN THERE SLY BRO!  I will do the 30 day trial period.

Well just remember Tim it will grow back.

I'd say keep the shine, you may find you will get used to it and like it better than then the matte natural look.

Oh I will...the shine is here to stay.  I went to the shell station this morning to get my daily fountain pepsi and the chick in there asked me if I  waxed my head. I said  "Nope....its just there to remind everyone how BRIGHT I am!"  That got a chuckle out of the whole place...i would say there was about 15 people in there.  I left with a smile on my face.

I have tried numerous times to grow a goat but I cant get the good look like all you mugs have.

My facial hair is still more fuzz than whisker

I have tried numerous times to grow a goat but I cant get the good look like all you mugs have.

Trying to persevere through the growing-in stage is tough, but it's worth trying.  It might not ever get to where you want it, but you'll never know if you don't try.  I tried several times myself and never made it much past a week, because I just couldn't stand how sloppy I looked while it was growing in. And it's worse with red/blond hair, because it looks patchy while it's growing in, not like dark hair where you can basically see the outline the whole time.

Finally, two years ago, I starting growing the goat again and forced myself to adhere to the 30-day-rule, whether I wanted to or not -- just like I did when I finally went sly full-time (also after several aborted attempts).  In the end,  I was glad I did.  I kept it for about two months and then for some reason decided to shave it off -- which I instantly regretted.  I grew it back and have not seen my chin or upper lip since -- and have no plans to.

The nice thing about growing facial hair is that it's instantly reversible should you decide you don't like it.
