Marine Corps General Reinwald was interviewed on the radio the other day and you'll love his reply to the lady who interviewed him concerning guns and children. Regardless of how you feel about gun laws you gotta love this!!!! This is one of the best comeback lines of all time. It is a portion of National Public Radio (NPR) interview between a female broadcaster and US Marine Corps General Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military installation.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?
GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and shooting.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?
GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.
FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become violent killers.
GENERAL REINWALD: Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?
The radio went silent and the interview ended. God Bless our Military.

LOL :*))....Talk about a comeback indeed!!!!!That is killer.
I wish I had that type of razor wit. And through it all, he makes her look silly and proves his point at the same time.

I sent this out to some friends here in the office and accidentally CC'd my boss and much to my chagrin he approached about 5 minutes later with a stern look on his face and burst out laughing and gave it 2 thumbs up.Well Done O0

that is funny as hell.
-
But was it fair for him to take on a liberal left-wing nut job? -- they only come armed with their 'feelings.' I love it!!!! I'll be sure to share this with others.

Agreed... and the closer to (apparent) reality something is, the funnier it is. And that sounds exactly like something you would hear on NPR -- and we tax payers foot the bill for such nonsense.

I find this hard to believe.
Sounds like a right wing nut job effort to reinforce to all those insecure men out there, that they are ok and that is ok to infer that just because they disagree with someone it is ok to demean them.
If this guy was in my command he would have been reprimanded and demoted immediately, I hope this happened, again if it is a real situation.

One could just as easily argue that the interviewer was demeaning the military by her reference to "violent killers". Interesting that you would demote him for this. Even generals are entitled to freedom of speech.

Any Military officer is representing the US Govt. I doubt if this is the type of speech that one would expect of a professional educated leader, again even if it gives the lower educated man a brief feeling of superiority in an ordinary life.

The bottom line is you would demote a general and decorated war veteran because he may have offended a radio host. OK .... whatever. I'm glad that you are not running things.

The more General Reinwalds, the less Al Frankens and Al Sharptons and Al Gores.
It is just a plain fact.

Not sure how calling a female reporter a prostitute will save people from Al Franken, Sharpton and Al Gore.
Interesting how fear is spread and felt by those who have no power, and feel insecure about themselves and their lives, seems like they always have to blame someone for it.

I couldn't agree more -- just like how it has become fashionable these days to assign blame for everything that goes wrong -- or is perceived to have gone wrong -- to a certain world leader that I won't mention by name, since I don't want to stray any further into the shark-infested political waters. ;)

That is true in ALL aspects of life. Let something go wrong and the leader takes the blame. Let something be positive and all the underlings jump forward to say it was their idea!!
I've seen it happen in politics, at church, singles groups, civic clubs, alumni associations, etc. Everyone wants the credit, no one wants the blame.
I, for one, want to take credit when I do something good. I am also willing to take blame when one of my ideas winds up causing problems.

You got it. A lot of the world's problems would be solved if people would take responsibility for their own actions and not always be the "Victim" of something or somebody. We don't need a warning label on everything and we don't always have to find someone to be the villian who is the cause of all of our problems. Where has common sense and personal respect gone??? :/O

Let me open this with a disclaimer: I have great respect for attorneys and their profession.
That said, we have become a lawsuit happy society of people looking to get rich quick. Almost all professionals, be they doctors, lawyers (yes - I had an attorney friend once sued by a client because they lost a case), teachers, etc., are forced to carry liability insurance. A mere fall in the grocery store or a minor rear-end collision results in a fear of lawsuits. My grandmother fell in a major department store. They hounded the heck outta her, not seeing how she was, but to get her to sign a release of liability (their restroom door threshhold was not ADA compliant). Even my church is having a battle with our insurance carrier; our front door opens inward instead of outward.
Medicine bottles are covered with warnings; some good, some bad. You can't get a cup of hot coffee any longer ... and, last week, my plumber told me he could not legally up the temperature on my hot water heater because he might get sued if I got scalded.
WHERE IS PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY?
