Sorry for starting a new thread...serious question. I gave myself a buzz cut and noticed that y hair is thinning on the sides and back now...what the hell is going on? DUPA? TE? Thyroid problem? Diffuse alopecia areata? Help!

My medical history basically is that I have generalized anxiety disorder and OCD. I have a lot of chronic stress from these and my body seems like it is always uptight. In addition, my father has hypothyroidism as does my cousin...I don't think he ever suffered hair loss from it though.

My personal, completely non-medical opinion is: sure, it could be any of those.
Except for the typhoid problem, those styles of balding are not a health issue, from what I know of them. They just are patterns of balding.
If you think this is a health related symptom, then don't act like most of us with the Y chromosome tend to do in such a situation and do nothing. Get yourself to the doc and tell him/her of your concerns.

Hey man, you're not the only one. I'm going through the same thing. In all honesty I think anxiety plays a big role. I've never had anxiety my whole life; I never really understood what anxiety was 'til I went through a traumatic event in my life. It was so bad my hair started shedding and I started breaking out. Its been about 6 years now. My anxiety got little better, but my hair never really grew back. I've read that some people who go through TE or DUPA grow back their hair when they find the problem that's causing it. I've learned to just accept it and try to make the best of life. Dont sweat it I'm in the same boat. Hope you get through it man.
