Title: Cold enough for ya?
Post by: wutwutman on January 31, 2014, 03:25:16 PM
Up here in Michigan we are dealing with this "polar vortex" for a few weeks now with no real end in sight.  6 - 8 foot snow drifts, temps constantly below freezing even reaching negatives occasionally, high winds, frostbite warnings, etc.  So how is your winter going? lol

At this moment, it is 78F in south Texas.

Lol.. Yea today and I think tomo it's supposed to be in the upper 70's.. Then we're back down to "colder" weather. Nothing like that.. Lol like at all. Here in Texas, I'm wondering if we have a winter or are we just getting spring/fall into one. haha

This morning at 7:30, it was thirty degrees in Connecticut. I can't remember the last morning it was not in the single digits. I walked to work. It felt warm!

It went up to the 40s today in Maryland, with the sun shining!  It felt like spring.  We have had cold spells, but the lowest temperature was 8 F.  We've been spared most, but not all, of the cold and the snow.

Here where the deer and the antelope play and the skies are not cloudy all day, the aforementioned animals are looking for straggler bears with which to share their den and hibernation. The ground-Kansas is not noted for its mountains or very many hills-it may be June before the thaw sets in. This morning, Saturday, it's around 18 and will rise to 23 and will do that for the next eight days. We are grateful, of course, for no cars abandoned in snow along the expressways but...it's all rather grim. I opened the door to let the cats out for their daily romp and they just sat there, looking at me as if to say, "You gotta be $%^ing me". I'm enjoying bed, there's no place else to go, and am trying to arrange a tail gate party involving a recliner, Cheetos and apple cider. I may send out for groceries at some point but....I see this as a God sent opportunity to find out what's really in the back of the pantry and then consume it. Surely Hot Salsa on Ramen Noodles is an unexplored taste. For those of you not enjoying cold weather, keep it to yourself. PJ

Here in Southern Louisiana it actually got up to 60 yesterday and is expected to get to 68 today....This week with the heavy freezing and winter storm, I don't think any schools were open any more than two days this week...there are still puddles sitting in front of the house melting as I type this...

It has been colder than hell here in Minnesota since mid December. This past Monday and 3 weeks ago, it was -22 degrees and the wind chill wa s -40 to -50 degrees. Yuck. On Thursday, we received 6 plus inches of snow. I got plenty of upper arm exercise shoveling for about 3 hours. THe snow blower was not working properly. Currently it is above zero which is nice.

We leave for Arizona and California 2 weeks form Monday. I can't wait. Hope that we don't run into any bad storms enroute.

Hope that it will be warm enough here on Monday to get out to go down hill skiing one more time before we leave for the West Coast.

Stay warm everyone.

Heading to Florida after church on Sunday.

Plan to visit with Mel in Pensicola next Saturday.(one of the moderators).

My buddy in St. Pete said, "bring shorts".

Looking forward to first winter vacation in Florida.

UPDATE:  Still cold as HELL.  We had a brief reprieve from the snow, but now we're supposed to get 4-6 inches tonight.  Currently a high of 13 degrees Fahrenheit LOL  By Thursday temp will be in the 40s.  That's shorts and flip flops time!  Whoohoo!  Gotta love Michigan weather LOL

As a person who grew up in the Chicagoland area, I am so glad that I live in Florida.  I love snow but hate to live in it.  Stay warm, sir.

Supposed to be 60 tomorrow at Charlotte, and 70 the next two days.

The snow is virtually gone.

Someone said we had the 15 year storm last week.  to have three days in a row with more than 1 inch of snow.  almost never heard of.

Any snow usually melts away in about 2-3 days.

A co-worker from Cleveland THOUGH he know how to drive in snow. He tried it last Wednesday. Said it was crazy. The snow here near Charlotte is NOT the same as snow in the north.  Just stay home and wait it out.

A friend from Indianapolis arrived here (Central Florida) today and enjoyed the afternoon poolside. Tomorrow we'll spend the day in the theme parks - her only request is to avoid going indoors as she doesn't want to miss any of the 80+degree sunshine expected.

I lived briefly in a cold climate 30+ years ago. There's a reason why it's 30+ years. LOL.

My sly hat is off to those of you that do it. I don't have the (internal) fortitude to do it again.

Although it is late March, meteorologists are saying another Nor'easter is set to hit New York City tomorrow. Although I enjoy cooler weather, I am sick of the extra layers of clothing; especially due to the fact I work fashion retail, and the only thing being promoted is spring merchandise. Funny thing about the weather this past season: for a while, I thought my weather app was trying to guess my shoe size.

We are thinking about you guys in the North.  It may dip down to about 65 degrees here on Wednesday.

The downside for us is how much pollen is in the air, the pool, on the cars, everywhere.... a thick layer of Spring Green.

I'm so sick of the cold. It's currently 27 with 30 mile per hour winds with gusts up to 50 here in NH.

Same here in CT. Never considered moving south, but this winter is making me reconsider. Maybe I've just turned old.

It's typically pretty nice here in NC, although this winter is much colder and longer than normal. I'm ready for warmer weather.
