Hey guys! Cool forum here. I have been lurking for about a week and a half and I'm about a week into the 30 day challenge. I could use a bit of feedback though. Anyways, I'm a 29 year old guy and I'm so used to seeing myself with hair that I'm not sure if it looks good and I'm just not used to it yet, or if it just looks bad all together. I feel like it has made me look significantly older and angrier haha I used to get called a nice guy a lot so I'm not sure if this is a good thing or bad thing. The main reason I decided to shave it is because I ride a motorcycle on a daily basis and trying to keep my hair in style was annoying. Do you guys think that my face and head shape can be suited for this look? Do I look like I can pull this off. Spare none of my feelings. Just honest reactions. I'm still adjusting and I feel like people can read right through my soul when they look at me and are only looking at my head. Here's some shots.

This was taken about 3 weeks ago.. I was playing a game with my little cousins haha.

I think I look silly without hair, but I'm not sure how much of it is in my own head. Thanks guys!

I don't think I have heard of someone who shaved because of wearing a motorcycle helmet. However the look of the shaved head is fine for you - perhaps a big smile would help show more confidence.
Many on SBG have grown some facial hair either goatee or full beard and this often (I'm biased) provides balance to the look and people are drawn to the total look rather than just a bald head.
Keep to the 30 day rule and all will be fine.

You look fine bro. I ride a motorcycle too, so I understand what you mean. Granted I wear a bandana under the helmet, but that's just part of my overall look when riding.
As you can see, I'm bald and bearded. So I'm a little biased but I agree with nuts, that experimenting with facial hair will help balance the overall look.

You look fine sly. It takes time to adjust to seeing yourself without hair, but you will grow accustomed to it pretty quickly. In fact, if you stay sly, in about three weeks you will find it hard to remember what you looked like with hair.
As to looking older, the sly look tends to make younger guys look a little older. As to looking angrier, just smile a bit and be polite - the "angry look" will disappear.

I've played that kids game recently with a friend's family who has young kids. They love it.
You look great in the shaved head photo. It does take a while for you to get used to your new look. Just hang in there and enjoy the smooth each morning after you shave.
In the game photo, looks like your hair is pretty thin. Sly tops thin hair. I think you carry the SLY look very well.

I agree with the rest of the commenters. You have a handsome face that is well set off by a bare scalp. Plus, you have a good head shape. I think that you should stay chrome-dome. Since I also have a goatee, I (perhaps with bias) suggest that you try facial hair. The bald look definitely fits you.

I agree with the rest of the guys. You look good sly, but I can tell you're unsure of it by your face. I thought the same thing as Nuts. A smile would make you look even better.
It's definitely going to take time to get used to the new look; that's typical so try to be patient. I always liked wearing hats and when I had hair, that was a problem. Hated the hat hair thing when I had to remove the hat. Being bald solves that problem! Being sly you'll never have to worry about your hair when you take off your helmet. There are lots of other benefits to being sly. I think there is a thread for that somewhere.

You look fine.
The difference will happen when you can RELAX about having a shaved head. When that happens I think you will accept the look, own it, and smile.
It takes time to integrate the new "hairless style" into your self-image.
But you are totally suited to it.

Looks great. Just relax.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I guess it's just all in my head. :/O

Welcome to the forum, Danimal.
I agree with the gentlemen before me. It does take some time to adjust to the smooth dome. You look fine.

You look fabulous !
Its your head and you have the right to do what you want to do with it. If you like shaving your head, you should do it regardless of what others might say. And I don't think anyone really cares. They are probably shocked with your new look because its so different than it was before. They will get used to it eventually and everything will be as normal as it was before.
A big wide grin can really make you look a lot nicer. Smiling bald people look more open and friendly. Just check out the pictures of other people in this forum :) .

Welcome, Danimal! You look great sly; and you can enhance it better with a smile and some facial hair, IMO

I have to agree with the others. You look good sly.

Thanks again for the feedback guys. I have tried to grow facial hair, and would love to be able to grow a full goatee but when I do the mustache does not connect with the cheek area and I have this pretty big gap. I rocked a #2 over the summer and had a bit of facial hair and it looked pretty patchy like this:
(https://www.slybaldguys.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1330.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fw573%2Fmarkymark28112%2F3c304dac-dd32-486e-a06c-973bb5558e4b_zps58b0269b.jpg&hash=2abe9d3e6aa03cb50371436cfa119ba8f992d3ed)
My hair color is also blonde and when I grow my beard out there is a lot of blonde and red in it. I wish it was darker so it would stand out more.
-
You know, we all grow facial hair just as diversely as we do the hair, or lack of, on our head. I think you'll be fine. I have a beard, but I feel that it is patchy in some areas and not as full as I would like or as I see on others. The connectors from my mustache to my chin beard took forever to finally grow out, like not until my 30's! But, I've learned to accept whatever flaw, or perceived flaw, my beard may have. It's a little patchy, it's gray, but it works.
-
That summer photo looks great! Your beard looks fine, and actually you can pull off the buzzed-down look at well as totally bald. Try several different looks. If you don't like them, you can change. Why not keep the dome shaved and try again with a beard?
-
You look like you've got a pretty good beard from that photo. I always thought that my beard was pretty patchy, too, until I gave it a real chance to come in. Thanks to the encouragement I got here, I forced myself to be patient and I was pleasantly surprised at the results at around the two month mark. Give yourself a chance. The advice I got was to do nothing for three months. I think that was a good suggestion. You should try it.
-
I was insecure the first five years after going sly but I have embraced the look. I have been shaving my head for almost ten years.
