Title: Just about at that 30 day mark.
Post by: Y2KOTA on January 12, 2014, 04:35:55 AM
I must say I do enjoy the sly side of life  ;D

One concern is when I shave no matter what blades I use, there are patches that I can not get smooth. Still a short stubbly areas. Tried coming at them from all directions. Tried 2 brands of shaving creams and even just Ivory bar soap.  Some spots are cue ball smooth while some are not. I shave while in the shower. Nicks, cuts and bumps are decreasing with time, hopefully to disappear completely soon. Might going to the electric side solve this? Just looking for guidance . Thanks in advance :)

Not to worry.  I have three spots which I cannot get absolutely smooth simply because of the contour of the scalp surface. They are not obvious to anyone and only I know where they are. I accept it and move on.

I have to use my free hand to pull the skin taught in order to get a smooth shave. It also decreased the cut/nicks I was getting when the skin folded into the blade.

I also use my hand to feel the scalp as I shave.  If there is a stubbly patch, I go over it again (sometimes more than once).  I usually think that my entire scalp is completely smooth when I finish shaving, but, oddly, I'll usually find a small patch with a trace of stubble.  At that point, I just let it go.  I have found that the Head Blade gives me the closest shave of all the options (and razor blade with lather is much more effective than an electric shaver).

Y2KOTA, Welcome and congrats on the 30 days! One thing that can help you get smoother shaves even in those hard spots is a small bottle of Shave Secret at Walmart. It can be used alone or mixed in with whatever shaving cream that you use. The best part is you only need about 5 drops, a small bottle lasts me about nine months to a year. That said, as you become more proficient at head shaving, you may want to invest in a shaving brush and some shaving soap. Razors tend to cut better over a heavy lather as opposed to gel and foam, IMO. Good luck and feel free to ask questions if you have any!

Like others have said, use your off hand to stretch out that area and let the blade to the work for you, meaning don't press too hard.

I use shave secret, followed by Head Slick, and a multiblade razor (magnum M5).  There area few spots that give me problems and I just have to accept it.  Witgh practice I now can get most of the problem areas.  It will improve with time.

No electic razor and can get as close as a blade.

Well must say that this morning, got me the closes shave yet  O0 Used the pulling of the skin taught method and it seemed to work. Did end up with one bleeder and a small amount of red rash, but less then what I have been getting.  Gave the dome a splash of witch hazel after wards. Yea it sting that bleeder big time :(  After the WH dried I tried the HeadBlade ClearHead Bump Treatment. A while later right before heading out to work, a fine coating of HeadLube Glossy was massaged in. Dam I look smooth and so shiny  8)
