Hey guys, I gave the full beard 30 days (actually 40 days) and today I shaved it off. I got a lot of complements on it, but I found that my hair is too curly so it comes off as patchy around my cheeks. I may try again in a couple of months, but today I decided it was time to go.
Anyone else find that their beard hair is much curlier than their hair on their head?

Pictures! ^-^

I have to keep mine trimmed because as it gets longer, it wants to curl around the edges... and I don't like it like that.
I agree with Razor.... we want to see pictures. -lol
-
Mine does get curly and tangly on the sides....I trim once a month to keep it manageable.
-
Beard hair often has a more curly texture than scalp hair. Of course we need pictures, but you really need more time than 40 days to adjust to a beard. Some conditioner and brushing may help tame it somewhat, but the curl also adds some character and fullness.

That's why I never let my beard get much longer than this awful photo I just took with my laptop. Any longer and it starts doing weird curly things that I don't find gives it character, but just makes it look unkempt and generally awful.
I'd love to be able to grow out a huge Santa-beard like marsh, but it just isn't in my genes.

Getting too much grey in my beard to grow one .... I'd look like Father Time!
-
SlyBear, yours looks good at that length.
-
Thanks, myke!

Actually, my head hair was curlier than my facial hair.

This is the only picture that I can find at the moment. I will see if anyone else was able to capture me with a beard.
-
Didn't look bad at all.
-
Nice family photo, Tyler!
-
@Tyler-you could pull of the look if you wanted to long term (nice family photo)! @SlyBear, yours looks pretty good too! (I take it that the picture was taken at a reverse angle, right?)
-
I agree with the other gentlemen, Tyler. It looked good.

Not bad. Good family pic, too

It would have been a god pod opportunity to try out that Straight Beard product that keeps getting advertised here.
-
I love the bald and bearded look! But I am tempted to try the Straight Beard product. That is because I think it would actually be longer if it were straighter!

Thanks! And yes: my birthmark is actually on my right cheek.

How about a Goatee Tyler?
-
Bald and bearded is really the way to go. But you need to commit at least three months for a beard to develop beyond the scruffy stage, unless you are and unusually fast grower.
-
you need to push through! lol, at about the same time i was thinking the same thing. it was curling up and kinda freaking me out. i pushed through and actually just a few days ago i noticed its starting to look better. the longer it gets, the straighter it gets. at least for me...i agree with everyone else, your beard looked good. i have a real baby face so a beard is about the only way i can look my age, lmao.

I kept the goatee. I've been rocking that look since the day I shaved my head.
