My spending spreee for today. Bit gutted I went for the Matte instead of the Gloss moisturiser in error. meh.
So I shall see whether all the hype you have created is true and whether it is better than my current Hydro

Oops forgot pic
-
I'm now a headblader!
-
Quite a nice collection!
-
I use the Headblade and HeadSlick myself. Welcome to the club. BTW, I'm edging into the "shave head every day" group!
-
Shave your head as a unit, why do guys fool around with facial hair? Leave the accessories to the birds!

Why do some people demand that everyone else do things *THEIR* way? Why do some people think everyone is going to stop doing what they're doing because some stranger on the internet demands it? D#tG3t

Those semi beards look like a bunch of try hards with no real world skills. You are no longer sly with a semi beard, you are hanging on to something that's not there. Talk about emphasizing your baldness, get a chin beard

It's always interesting when people who post no avatar picture of themselves are critical of how other people look.

chinbeard is better than neckbeard, I'll give you that

So now we have a beard expert on the forum. By chin beard, I'm assuming you are referring to a goatee and by inference, assuming you are talking about a full beard when you say semi beard?? ---I've not heard of these two words being used to describe beards. Either way, "talk about emphasizing your baldness" sounds like a negative comment. Why would you think we are not proud of our Sly heads. I like the way facial hair looks with a bald head and so do many others. It's not for everyone, but people who speak their opinions as fact are often not appreciated.
Slyest, It looks like you did a great job with the headblade. Is it a much closer shave than usual?
-
I am afraid to ask, Slyest, but how much did it put you back to have all that shipped to London?

It didn't! I found a store in London. Well I say found Mr Jules has mentioned it, and I've been toying with it for a while.
Mike - It is quite a stash but I mainly shave my head at the gym after my work out, so I got one for gym and one for home. Still bummed about the glosse finish tho. Meh! Can't believe I didn't notice it was matte, I think I "thought" gloss and said "matte" when I was asked.
Myke - I think so, I used to be smooth anyway but I think it's been smoother for longer. The problem with my hair is I still have it on the top but it starts high and I have a bald pot rather than totally bald, which makes me want rid of stubble even more
Tracer - I don't even know what you're talking about with your beard comments.....
-
Well a few days in and I don't think I'll be staying a headblader. Although it first felt smooth, it now seems to take longer to shave, leaves certain parts of my head feeling rough and I'm not pleased with the back at all. Plus the blades seem to go blunt very easy! The corners of my head (you know what I mean) seem to grow back quicker too.
Lesson learned, give it a chance before overhauling alll your shaving gear as I've probably wasted too much money but I'm just not as happy with my head as I am with a Hydro
-
I had troubles with the Headblade as well. Is seems that some do very well with it, but others do not. I have be quite happy with the smoothness and ease of use with my Personna M5 Maginum razor, and the cartridges cost much less than the Fusion. I do not know of its availability in the UK.
BTW - just ignore the comments from Tarcer. The beard looks fine.
-
At least you can say you gave it a chance. I tried one, but didn't like it and never really gave it a chance. I know that there are a lot of guys who love them... it just goes to show that different things work for different people. (I'm glad we have choices).
-
Even with the Headslick, I recommend using a shaving brush.
-
Well I changed blade today on it and again really smooth but it's gonna be too expensive to change a blade every two or three shaves!
-
Slyest,
The beard looks good in the new avatar... did you do something different?
-
I used the HeadBlade for about two weeks before finally giving up and going back to my Fusion. I just couldn't get as smooth a shave with it.
My wife's family was here on Sunday, and her nephew saw the Sport in my medicine cabinet. He thought I was pretty cool to have a Hot Wheels car for a razor.
-
It's probably a bit longer than normal. I changed how I trim it :)
-
Headblade pro tip:
Re-lather between passes, easiest way to accomplish this without using extra headslick is to use a shave brush.
My ATX routine:
1. Front to back (as many strokes as it takes to clear most of the headslick).
re-apply headslick.
2. Back to front.
re-apply headslick.
3. Across the grain.
4. Check for missed spots (mine are typically behind my ears and near my crown).
If there are any missed spots re-apply headslick, if not rinse off and move on.
-
Thanks for the tips. As I say the first time I used the blade great. Second shave onwards not as good
-
I'm just trying out the ATX. I've been a SPORT fan for as long as I've been shaving. Hesitant to make the switch, but thought I'd give it a try. The 'blade in the back' does have some advantages especially around the ears and nooks and crannies.
I've not used it long enough to comment on the life of blades, but the learning curve between Sport and ATX does not seem to be great.
Going OK so far.
-
I wasn't a big believer in replacing the adapter but putting a fresh adapter on does have an effect on the quality of the shave.
Unclogging tips:
If you're shaving at the sink hold it by the wheels and rinse the blades with the hottest water your faucet has.
If you're shaving in the shower use the shower stream by facing the ATX away from the shower head (basically water goes in the back to push hair and headslick or shaving cream out the front).
-
well I offically gave up with it today. I was at the gym and shaving my head and it just felt like I wasn't getting the result I wanted, even with a new blade. Carried on with a Hydro 5 and smoothness was back. I've given it a shot but found I was still hydro'ing and I find the hydro more comfortable to shave with. I do like Headslick tho and will continue with that
-
A friend of mine's wife just gave me one for Christmas. :)
I have had mixed results with the HB - I like the design but the results are not ideal for me. It's challenging (and a bit frustrating) to not get a nice smooth dome with a brand new blade and it takes me longer as well.
Their lotions and HeadSlick are really great though.
