Well, Gents, I am about to finish my thirty days of the thirty-day rule. As I write, I have a one-day stubble that is about to come off. Something shifted in my mind recently. I shaved my head several times, but I never kept it shaved. I think that I imagined that I would look terrible totally bald, or something like that. Anyway, at the beginning of these 30 days, I was going to skip shaving for family gathering and, suddenly, I thought, what the hell? It's my head, I want to shave it, I don't care what other people think. For the record, nobody said anything negative. The few comments I've gotten have been positive. So, it looks as if my fringe is staying off. As many of you have said, I feel free now--and a bit more self-confident. Also, I just turned 61. That helped--what's so shocking about a bald 61-year-old?
I won't really ask, "Why didn't I do this sooner?" because I think that I'm doing it now that I am ready. I think that, after retiring in a couple of years (I still am conscious of how I look at work), I'll grow a full bushy beard (instead of my trim goatee) and maybe laser off the fringe. We'll see. Anyway, thanks for all your encouragement. It really does help that, not only on this website but in real life, I see a lot of Sly guys. It's just a fact of life. As soon as I use my friend's digital camera (I still don't have one of my own, nor a fancy-shmancy camera cellphone), I'll post a shaved pic. I am enjoying this!

Good for you Earl! Glad you like it so much.
It's very liberating to get up - rub a little lotion on and go without worrying about "bedhead," etc.
Freedom from having to be "sent to the cleaners" (i.e. a barber) periodically is nice as well. It sounds like you'll be "over 30" in no time and won't look back. This is one case where you DON'T want to be "29 and holding"... :*))

Congratulations, Earl.
Great to hear you are happy with smooth.
(And go ahead and ask why you waited so long. Most of us have, so join the club.)

It is now a little over five weeks. I've thought of letting my hair grow back, but then ... out come the razor blade and the Headslick! As many of you predicted, I really like the feeling of my smooth scalp. I'm shaving my head almost every day ... and loving the result. I've got to admit that, if no other men did this, I wouldn't have the nerve, but now there are just the right number of men. Enough to make me feel comfortable and reinforced in my decision, and not so many that "everyone" looks like that (I just don't have a herd mentality). I've even matured enough to look at men with full, healthy heads of hair and think, "That looks great on him ... but I've moved beyond hair!" I'll keep you updated, and I'm going to see if I can post an "after" photo.

I'm glad the razor won over the temptation to regrow the hair. It means you are embracing the new look!
