Title: Not ATG not WTG, but Diagonal to the grain?
Post by: Justin on September 25, 2013, 04:54:41 PM
Hello all I discovered this method of shaving which allows for a smoother shave than WTG, but without the irritation I experienced shaving ATG. Maybe this has been mentioned before, but I discovered it soon after I started shaving almost 4 years ago and figured I'd finally share it as it might help someone. Still yet to make an intro, maybe one day  :p . Basically the idea is to shave at a 90 degree angle to the hair growth which is the middle ground between ATG and WTG. Here's a picture to demonstrate what I'm talking about. Hope it helps someone.

Yes I found this to be less irritating myself.  That's actually how I do it.  It works well enough for me.  Some say it doesn't control the shadow effect as well as ATG, but I have lighter colored hair so it doesn't affect me as much as those with dark hair.

That's called across the grain (XTG).

I do this when I go on holidays and don't feel like taking all my products with me cause it is easier. Down side is it's not BBS.
