Post by: Switch on October 22, 2006, 01:51:46 PM
the only disadvantage i hav run across is now that it is winter, my head is freezing. however, a beanie is a simple fix.

Take stock, there are a lot of cool knit hats out there. One of my favorites is my black hat with a skull on the front. My second favorite is my Tazmanian Devil hat. (I know, TMI. . . too much information. lol)

I live out in LA so it doesn't get that cold, but when it does, a beanie is perfect.  And when I head indoors, I just shove the beanie in my coat pocket.  It's so convenient.

Beautifully....

No school for the kids or work for the adults....didn't have to travel anywhere...had plenty of food in the fridge.  Haven't driven anywhere since Tuesday...just dug the cars out yesterday.

Stand by for a couple pics

I have a couple of new beanies since it got cold here. One is bright orange and has a "01" on the front and says "GENERAL LEE" on the back. The other is black and read and has the UNM LOBOS Team logo. I likes 'em...especially the orange one. There isn't much that screams "I'm a redneck hillbilly like a Dukes of Hazzard beanie

Now that I would buy, just make sure the material is one that doesn't stick to the stubble too bad.  I can't wear the heavy wool ones, unless it's right after shaving.  I have 2 of the headblade one's, I love.  Doesn't stick to the stubble bad.

My dome is about a size eight. I've always had problems finding hats. The only hat I wear is my beanie. It's one of those with a short brim attached to the front. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Not exacly sure what a beanie is.....but I kinda like what Hulk Hogan does with a bandana.....and I like them things ya usually see black guys wearin' --  thin black material, ties in the back over a long back part that goes down the neck a ways

A beanie is form fitting cap for your dome.  Some areas call em watch cap or skull cap.

Beanies are one of those things that everyone knows, but they have so many different names it’s almost impossible to know the names when you hear ‘em.  I never heard skull caps till a year ago. :-\

Skullcap and toboggan are the two terms I know.  A beanie is one of those things with micky mouse ears attached to it!

Depends on who you're trying to impress.  I knew this chick (yes, she was HOT)who would love the smell motor oil and grease on a man, like after working on a car.  She always said "it smells like real man work" and knew it leads to a better performing car.

My wife said she would rather me smell like oil and grease than cow turds. (I worked in the dairy business when we first got married) After I went back to mechanic work, she was much happier...lol

I think I would rather just in hale the WD-40 straight then have to deal with the cow pie smell for any duration of time

I've been wearing my beanies non-stop for the past few weeks. I get to work, it's dark, I go home, it's dark. DARK=COLD I don't even take my sunglasses to work anymore. I rarely leave the building when the sun is out.

It is the high altitude that does it.  One of my coldest/miserable memories is from El Capitan Mountains.

We're supposed to be getting another storm too. I'm a pessimist when it comes to New Mexico weather though, it's always changing.

We got hammered when Denver did and it only takes a few inches to shut the city down. They let everyone go home early the day it started snowing and then told us it would be fine if we were late the next day. Over half of the customers scheduled that day cancelled anyway.

From my years in New Mexico, the only weather that I would count on was it will snow during spring break.

When I was a kid I remember it snowed for several easters in a row. Never failed, we could get absolutely nothing all winter and then BAM! snow on easter

If only it was cold enough to think about hats here in the UK. It has been so mild I haven't needed a coat during alot of December and even now only need a light jacket over a shirt for work. Unfortunately we aren't having warm pleasant state weather, just very grey rainy Brit weather that makes the winter drag on with extra S.A.D.ness.

My daughter (Rebekah, aged 9) wants to have a white Christmas like we had occasionally when I was a lad. Didn't have any this year, or any of her previous 8 years, and doesn't look like it is going to in the near future if you believe the global warming doom merchants.

I wear a 'buff' when I go out into the hills or in the sun - but not in pirate fashion.

I DEFINITELY FEEL YOU HERE!  Living in Phoenix, people don't realize that there is very little to keep the heat in at night, so I will go out for an evening of drinkin' with my buddies, and ofcourse it turns into a night of it... I will be on my way home and I will be SHIVERING!  I have heard most the heat of your body is lost out the top of your dome, but I have experienced that first hand.  Now when I am going out and about, I always carry a Beanie with me now that my Sis got me for a Christmas a few years back (Love you Sis  :@`)... It looks pretty dope, its durable, and no matter the weather it gets the job done.  Dark Gray with a Emblem I wear off to the side that reads "FREE MOVING" with a snowflake at the bottom.  They aught to make one of those "WE SALUTE YOU..." commercials for the man who invented the Beanie!  I'll Drink To Him Tonight!

I really understand the cold head thing.  Living here in Wyoming it is cold for several months out of the year and when it warms up a little the wind blows so hard that it still doesn't feel warm.  I just wear a beanie and keep warm that way.  Besides, I have found that I would rather wear a beanie than worry about the 50 MPH winds destroying my carefully constructed combover.

I decided to originaly shave it off because of cold weather. :o

I decided that I wouldn't have beanie hair if I choped it off. It worked, then I got lazzy and regrew my hair till a few months ago.

Brother, I hear that.  Wake up early to hit the Gym, and let me say, this thing collects all the lint from inside my Hoodie/fleece on its way out the neck whole.
