Title: Product review: RazoRock Alum Block
Post by: Mikekoz13 on September 06, 2013, 09:01:53 AM
Well I finally ordered an alum block. I was purchasing one for the Scotty's Ride SBG raffle Shave Kit so I went ahead and ordered myself one too.

I've never used an alum block before so I have nothing to compare it to but here are my thoughts.

This item is very cleverly designed. It comes mounted to a base and has a nice clear plastic cap that goes on over it after use. It's almost like holding a stick deodorant in your hand. The alum itself is about a 2' tall cylinder that is nicely rounded off on the edges for comfort and mounted to the plastic base. Ergonomically, it is very easy to use.

There is no odor or scent from the alum at all. You run it under the water and then rub it all over your face and/or head. At first I thought, "what's the big deal, all this did was make my face feel wet?". Then I rubbed my face and it wasn't wet at all. I had the sensation of cold wetness but my face was dry as a bone. And my face just felt good.

The alum closes the pores and can also be used as a nick stick (thankfully no nicks or cuts today). A very simple product that I like very much. According to the literature I read, this alum block should last about a year with regular use. That's an awfully good deal for about $5 US.

Uh guys.... that's a 2 INCH tall cylinder.... not 2 feet (that would be tough to use!).

For some reason when I try to edit/modify a post today, all my text disappears!!!!!!

Nice write up, Mike.

I got an alum block about a year ago to help with nicks on the face. I don't shave often with a (blade) razor on the face so I used it very little. Since chroming the dome I have used it, even when there are no nicks (very seldom that happens).

Enjoy it - anything that helps keep you smooth and healthy is a good thing!! :)
