Hello to all. After a couple years of getting #1 razor cuts, I decided to go sly last week before we left for vacation. I was without internet access until yesterday when I discovered this site. Wow...what a wealth of information. I've been lurking most of the day and have already picked up some great tips.
The hair that wasn't turning gray, was turning loose, so for me the decision to go sly was an easy one. The family took a few days to warm up to it, mostly due to the stark white color of the back of my head. Heeding the advice from this site, I plan to take it slow while letting the sun do it's magic.
Anyway, it's great to be here. I look forward to learning more "sly" tips and tricks.

Everyone: Thanks for the welcome guys.
PBurke - I've been to Patterson a few times to play golf at Atchafalaya. Great town. Good to know Louisiana is well represented here.
Paul - Nice bike. I ride a 2006 Night Train. My 17 yr old son just bought his first bike, a 1997 Sportster. He and I've been making a few rides together and plan on making a trip to Daytona Bike Week next year before he graduates high school.
Warhawk - I didn't research this at all before taking the plunge. I was in Atlanta last month on a business trip and while sitting in the hotel room I caught the Headblade piece on CNBC. It was the first I had heard of it and when I got back I went to Walgreens and bought a Sport model and a bottle of Headslick. My routine is pretty basic. While I'm in the shower each morning, I shave the dome with the HB and clean up around the ears with my Mach III. I just picked up some HB Gloss Headlube today and like it so far.

One of these days, I'll make it to Sturgis. I made it to Biketoberfest last year and even in October, Daytona can be pretty hot and crowded. This is an older picture of my bike before I lowered the rear end. Purty, I do like those pipes. Are they stock?
-
Ditto on those pipes Mike, sweet ride. I really like the clean look of chrome and black too.

The pipes are made by Vance and Hines. Overall the bike is relatively stock. I've changed the pipes, handlebars, seat and extended the forward controls another 3 inches.
-
Thought controls looked different..like it.
-
I never liked riding bikes with forward controls, always felt like I couldn't control the bike well. My old 79 sportster had them (yes Paul, I've owned a Hardly at one time, once and only once). Had the same issues with a Virago I had, forward controls, felt funny to me.
Guess that's why I like my VFR. But that is a purty bike.
