If you seen any posts from me on here before you'll know I have been waiting to do this for years.
Such a huge step for me, been thinking about it for too long but then I read the 'fence sitters' post from Razor again and this sentence hit me.
There are hundreds of reasons we can come up with why we can't shave our heads, but at the end of the day, the only thing that is stopping you is you -- not your parents, not your friends, not your boss, not your wife, and not your girlfriend. Just you.
So, upstairs I went, got the razor and sat with it next to my head for about 10 minutes, I couldn't do it, then I got angry with myself and thought I need to man up. I did it. Started on buzz cut 9, then 5, then 3 and currently on number 1. What a relief, why didn't I do this years ago? I don't look strange just a little pale on my head.
I'm unsure about a number 1 now though as it shows up my receding hairline too much, how much different is a number 0 to shaving. I don't think I'm ready to completely sly it up yet.
Still can't believe I'm on the right track after hiding for so many years...

At this point there is no risk in going shorter. You're only talking another day or two's worth of growth. Go for it. O0

Multiple virtual high-fives, sir!
The difference between 0 and shaved is like the difference between polished marble and fine grain sand paper. The sand paper looks smooth until you feel it.
You've come this far, you may as well scratch that itch completely.
-
Go for it!

Thanks guys, I'm going to buzz it on 0 and see how it feels/looks and take it from there.
I've brushed my head against something earlier and immediately thought about putting my hair back in position, so weird to get used to it not being there....in a good way!

Congrats on taking a big step. It's easy to wonder what all the fuss was about afterwards, so the "Why didn't I just do this sooner?" question is a common one.
-
Yeah, I've read it so many times on here. "Why didn't I do it sooner?" "Why have I waited so long?" As soon as I'd shaved I thought exactly the same.
Anyone reading this still on the fence I urge you just to do it. I wasted years worrying and stressing over it, missing out on trips to theme parks, swimming, loads of things.. If I can do it anyone can. Honestly.

Congratulations, Red! How about a picture?

congratulations for your courage,
but you'll only know if you like a bald head if you got it. go for it O0

Well done. Wasn't so hard was it. Now get out the razor and try smooth.
-
Way to go! You can take the next step...just like you took the last.

Cave Dweller said it all. Who wants sandpaper when you can have polished marble. It feels so much better. You've taken the hard steps of buzzing down to zero. The next step to SLY is really easy. And you won't want to go back to hair again. Let me encourage you to go head and shave your head.

Well done mate, on getting this far. Now that you are at a #1, take it down to a #0 & then lather up & shave that scalp nice & smooth. You will love it, guaranteed.
Remember & post up some pics, please.

Hi, haven't been back on here for awhile.
I took my hair down to a zero buzz almost immediately but haven't yet gone with the razor. I'm happy with the zero at the moment. Although it takes me awhile to buzz myself especially at the back with no guard on.
I got some crap at the start but honestly no one mentions it all now so if you're reading this and thinking about doing it, just do it. Once people have seen it for the first time and mentioned it they really don't care afterwards, you can do it. I did.

Hey Red,
Good to hear from you. Like you I had done the #0 for a long while, until the necessity of the shave overtook my 'fear' of going smooth.
Buzzing I always felt like I missed spots, so that always made me a little anxious. I did love the clippers running over my scalp, shedding my scalp of hair (what sparse areas are still there), but I think you'll find once you practice at it, the razor will be much faster.
Glad to hear you're still buzzed and enjoying it!

A number 1 will show your receeding hairline to you because it's part of you and you're aware of it. To others it's short enough, if they do notice you're receeding, for them to see you've embraced rather than hidden.
When I did have a good head of hair (oh those days) I went through a period of shaving for fashion and I always preferred a 0 to a 1 as I found a 1 had too much of a shadow but it took me time to get used to it. If you did want to take it all off plan a weekend that's quiet and do it friday and by monday you'll have some fluff. It'll give you a chance to get used to it and see if you wanted to go permanent.
for someone with concerns about their hairline getting your clippers out is such a big thing, so well done! Don't rush or push yourself and do it at your own pace. It's very easy for people who have a full head of hair to say just do it, but they never fully understand that once your hair starts to receed, shaving it off at any grade is a big thing. You can't just grow it back if your receeding or balding so dont rush towards any decision. So you call the shots, go with what works for you and what you feel helps your confidence.
A lot of people don't look back when they do it because it was the right time for them. before it wouldn't have been
