after reading many posts about prep and through my own findings, I'm thinking cold water is the way to go.
when doing my final touch ups, my water is usually cold and I can get closer than usual. I'm going to try an ice cold shave tonight and report my findings.

Pre-Shave is always as hot as possible. Post Shave is as cold as possible.

have the band aids handy!

I like my water steaming hot. Its stimulating and relaxing at the same time lol Post shave it varies depending on the temp in the house lol

An ICE COLD shave?
Ouch.

Hot, hot, hot.
Our water heater went out of commission for a few days last month. The only thing worse than a cold shave is a cold shower!

Definitely hot to soften the hair and stimulate the scalp. Cold rinse to help with the natural shine O0

yea. I wasn't a fan. the results were less than stellar.
I'm tryin to figure out why my results have been degrading over time. I'm gonna try a hot shower prep today. maybe that will help.

I hope your skin is not too damaged.

Oy...cold water prep/shave? Ouch and SHUDDER! :'(
Yes, may definitely lead to a bandaged head, at least it would if I tried it I fear! :px
Cold to close the pores after does seem to help with razor bumps, however.

I have always wondered about this, I was forced to have many cold shaved when I went on a 40 day roadtrip and lived in my car/tent and almost always had great results. I too have had a decrease in shave quality/speed over time lately and so I got wondering about the science of it all.
If we have a hot shower, this goes some way to opening the pores and softening the hair, thus allowing a closer shave, however! When heat is applied (to a certain degree) blood vessels become engorged so as to level temperatures within the body, thus swelling the surface of the scalp slightly and preventing the closest possible shave.
I tend to find a bit of both to be true, there is an area at the back of my head that feels smooth until near the end of my shave when my head is beginning to cool and I can finally shave it properly... Thoughts?
