Either the manequin is really tiny or that HB Sport is freakin' HUGE!!! :D
So, let me ask... what are the advantages of the HB Sport over the little ol' HB Classic that I currently use?
-
Obviously, I haven't used the Sport yet but I have recently got a Signature Series S4 model and having the wheel on the back rather than the nub is far superior. I messaged with Todd over MySpace and according to him the Sport works the same way. I like the weight of my S4 and am not sure if that is the part that makes it better other than the wheel.
By the way, I also got a pack of the new Triple Blades specifically for the Headblade yesterday and they are great. I would recommend you try a pack.
-
I also use an S4, far superior to the original.
I didn't care for the triple bladed blades, felt like I didn't get as close a shave, and they clogged up easily.
I still like the cryo'ed atra blades.
-
The new SPORT is about the same size as the HeadBlade CLASSIC. The SPORT is the exact same as the S4 minus the stainless steel. The S4 will run you about 75 bones while the SPORT will run you 15 bones, 2 more than the CLASSIC.
The CLASSIC involves alot of guesswork on the placement on the head. The SPORT/S4, you simply place the wheels on the head along with the blade & just push. With the wheels/blade on the head, it takes out all guesswork. This is the right position to start shaving! Makes a quick save even quicker! This will blow the classic out of the water. I tried to go back to the classic just for fun one day & i cannot shave with it any longer! that is how easy the SPORT has made the shave!
-
I ordered the Sport yesterday. Can't wait to try it out. Oddly enough, I have an S4 which I haven't used much since I went on vacation ( i used my Classic then and have been since). Can't really explain why, other than the S4 seems too heavy now. The Sport should rock!

Got my Sport today, big thumbs up! HeadBlade rocks!
-
Got mine yesterday and tried it out last night... once again, the folks over at HeadBlade do it again!! Great job!!! ;D
-
thanks guys!! once you try it , you won't go back to anything else!!! it's that good & the wheels make all the difference!
-
I have a question about the HeadBlade sport. Can you use the regular Atra blades (2 blades) with it? I want one but I don't want to have to continually order the 3 blade kits to be able to use the razor.
-
Welcome to Sly Bald Guys BigJeffrey!
Yes, you can use the Gillette Atra baldes. I currently use them because I ran out of my triple blades. I like the triple blades better, but that's a matter of opinion. What I found with the double blades was that there's more space between the blades, so it was easier to get nicked than with the triple blades.

Just make sure that you use the black adaptor, rather than the yellow one...
-
Thanks for the info guys. I thought that you could but I wanted to hear it from someone with some hands on experience before I made my purchase. Been using the regular headblade for several years now and looking forward to trying the sport.

Welcome to the group, Jeffrey!

I left the yellow adapter on & use the atras. Doesn't seem to make any difference.

I'm gonna try that tomorrow

I was going by the info from Headblade... the black is meant for double blades and the yellow is for triple blades.
I'll switch mine out tomorrow or the next day and see if there is any difference.

The yellow adapter seems to be a bit stiffer than the black one. I get a smoother, more comfortable shave with the Sport than with my S4. Maybe I should put the yellow adapter on the S4 and try that. ???
-
My black adapter won't fit the AtraPlus blades I bought, only the yellow one. Though, the black one will fit the Sensor Blades.

There's another black adapter (came with the HB Classic) that looks just like the yellow one, which is totally different than the black Sensor adapter...

I agree Medic, I tried it this morning and noticed a difference in the two adapters. I like the yellow one with the Atra blades...It's niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. Say it with me...niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice

Yeah, what he said Tyler. It's the old school black adapter yo

Hey JB,
Since you're in the know with HeadBlade, are there any plans to develop an adaptor for using either MachIII or Fusion blades?
-
I love the Headblade Sport, i have the classic and loved it but the sport is alot better. however I want to try the S4 however the price is a little high to convince my gf to allow me to get it.as well I'm not sure if I want to spend $75 which would look more like 80 in canada and than shipping would be in the 100 might not be worth it.

doubt that we will ever see the day..
these companies are rivals so to speak & i dont see them allowing us to use teir blades on our product

That would be a huge business mistake on their part as it would open up another avenue for men to repeatedly purchase their blades. Gillete makes most of their money on blades, not the actual handle.
Though, it would be smarter for HeadBlade to have their own blades that compete in quality with the Mach III and Fusion blades as it would provide HeadBlade with more repeat business.
JB, here's an idea that you can pass onto Todd and Mac, you can even claim it as your own. Let them know that they should setup a "service" that will automatically send out blades on a pre-determined schedule - charging a card for payment. That way they wouldn't have to remember buy blades at the store.

But Atra and the Sensor are Gillette products... and as Tyler said, it would make sense for Gillette from a business standpoint...
-
they might be gillette but they are nowhere the hotcake sellers that mach3 & fusion are. it probably wont ever happen so hopefully you guys dig the blades you use on a regular basis. who knows?

Understandable! Thanks for updating us on that...

I'll still continue to use the HeadBlade as I find it much easier to use than the Mach III and Fusion, especially now that I'm used to the HeadBlade.

+ headblade cam eout with their own triple blade recently. there are enough choices out there to find a blade for you!
