There is much talk from time to time about the "best" implement to shave the dome. Many recommendations of, frankly, exotic blades. DE fans; straight razor enthusiasts and so on. I say it does not make a lot of difference what you use.
Yes, fellow Sly folk: it's just shaving. SO, I bought a bag of disposable razors at Target some time back. And they work just fine. There is little likely improvement to come (or has been sold to us) in what we use to shave... Smooth is smooth.
I do the face with an injector razor (real retro) and then switch to a disposable for the dome. I've gotten two or three weeks from the recent disposable, and it still leaves me slick (MWF dome work). I do spritz both of the razors, post-shave, with alcohol (isopropyl) to eliminate the water that I hear might dull the edge if left. I think this a useful hint.
I will admit that my hair is on the fine side, but my dome is still largely more full than not. So I think my approach to the "right" blade is better than micro-analysis of the latest hot-diggety from the commercial blade-hawkers.
And so it's attitude and response to Sly that's the key here, not the way you get there.

I've been using a disposable to shave my head for around 12 years with wonderful results. I use Schick Xtreme 3 sensitive, and get a baby bum smooth shave every time. 8-10 shaves out of each, buy them from Sam's club for about $20 for a package of 22-25, depending on the promotion. I use Edge shave gel as well.
I just got my first DE razor yesterday, haven't had a chance to use it yet, but expect to continue using the disposables for the dome. I'll probably try the shaving brush and soap on the head see how that goes...

I started out using disposables. I was having to use two a day to get the results I wanted. And I usually wound up bleeding before I was finished. I'll stick with the headblade sport or Schick Hydro 5.

I agree. Disposables were a disaster for me. But we are all different. Whatever works. ;)

Ming, I think you make a great point that it's whatever gets you there. If you can get smooth with a disposable, more power to you! Some guys prefer electric razors and so on.

Mikekoz, I've always been a bit twisted.. :/O LOL in all honesty, it's this damn ipad, can't get the picture to rotate properly, and I don't think about it when I have a windows machine in front of me.

In the Photos app, display the photo, click Edit, Click Rotate, click Save.
You might need to click Rotate more than once to keep from standing on your head! 8)

Having tested a few different shaving options, I say it largely comes down to preference. For me Headblade is what I'm most comfortable with.

I agree completely greatnessinc. I've tried the head blade and absolutely hated it. I've tried a couple of versions and different blades and it just didn't do it for me.

As others have said, it's purely a case of different strokes for different folks. Yes, pun intended. For the varying shapes of heads and degrees of scalp sensitivity out there, there are various types of razors. On my end, I've shaved my noggin almost exclusively with disposables for years, with no issues. Granted, these are Mach 3 and Sensor 3 disposables I'm talking about, not the cheapie Bics or whatever. Using those types of disposables is just asking for trouble.
I did try the headblade a handful of times, and ultimately, I just couldn't get a real feeling for it. Mainly, the shave wasn't close enough. A DE razor will never go anywhere near my head..

I've given up on Headblade a few times but I always ended up back there again, since getting an ATX I've been all in on the bandwagon. The customer support at Headblade has won me over completely.

I'm a fan of disposables, they work great for me but I get a better shave with my HB SPORT/Gillette Fusion Proglide.

What do you guys mean by "disposable?
IMO, if it isn't a straight or a DE, it's a disposable. Even at that, a DE is technically disposable.
