I'm 23 an having been getting a bad receding hairline an I'm thinning on top. My dad is bald so I'm stuck with my fate an I'm not really disappointed, but I just can't decide what a good look is for me. Been just keeping it really short but I think it looks dumb an when I go to shave it unguarded my girl, brother, ect talk me out of it.
She don't really care but she thinks I would just look to weird an look like I have cancer if I did it lol. Be as honest as ya want

You will look great. Mpst guys buzz down these day. Try a no. 1 buzz first. Never let anyone control your haircut but you.

I'm going to recommend that you go for it. A smooth head feels very nice.
Looks sharp, too.
This next week while you are out and about, notice the number of guys who shave their heads bald, or have extremely short buzzes. It's not just the policemen. Young and old. It's a very good hairstyle for men - shaved bald. Clears up the issue with ugly looking thinning hair.

Good advice, take it. Your reaction/shock and that of others only lasts a while. I've been shaving my head for so long that now, if I let grow back whatever is there, it would be seen as strange. At your age, in two years few will remember when you had hair as so much has already receded. You're a good looking man, enhance that. PJ

Welcome to SBG ! Try going #1, then #000, then razor smooth if you don't want to razor right now. Hair grows back and it's yours and nobody else owns your handsome look ! Keep us posted !

Welcome, Swamp Swagger! You took a big step by admitting that baldness is probably in your future. You definitely should try sly for 30 days (if you don't like it, you can always grow it back) Good luck!

Hi & welcome to this great & supportive forum.
Like most of the guys have said here, just go for it. Buzz down to zero & then shave your head nice & smooth. You will enjoy it & will be glad that you went through with it in the end. Don't worry about negative comments..... folks will get used to seeing the "new" you.
Another piece of helpful advice: Stick with the 30-day-rule mentioned elsewhere on this site (i.e: shave your head smooth every day for 30-days. This allows you to get into a good shaving routine, helps you to view yourself as being a cool, bald dude & allows others to get used to seeing you as a bald guy). I guarantee that you will love the experience of your first, proper head shave, especially if done by a proper barber.
Enjoy the trip to being a real, cool bald dude.

I'm 24 and was also losing hair––for a real young guy, I can imagine it is pretty intimidating to shave, because you're sort of in this Catch 22 where you are balding and everyone knows it, but others might see you shaving your head as a bad thing.
Let me say that you've got a good head shape for shaving, and if you want to give it a whirl, try it!
If you find you like the sly look, OWN it, like the days when you had a full head of hair. That's one of the best parts of shaving your head. You're making the choice to adopt a new style, and you make changes to your lifestyle (work out more, dress better, etc) to fit your shaved dome.
Also consider (if you can) sporting some facial hair to compensate.

go for it! anyone who says negative things, are seeing it from their own point of view...not many wives or gf's will have to face mpb! my gf was unsure, but she didn't bat an eyelid when I did it...she likes it now....like the brothers have said...try it....and if you aren't completely satisfied....they'll give you your money back!!

You certainly should go for it. Shave it down to a number 1 for starters, remember its only hair. It'll grow back if you decide it's not for you! And as for being 23, I wouldn't worry about it brother I'm only 20 with a freshly shaven dome.
