Cool!! I really dig black and grey so liking all that, I really need to make my mind up about sleeves, I have big peices on both inner forearms but I'm still a bit hesitant about full sleeve.

That's excellent work Matt. Very nice.

I have plans for a 4th tattoo but I'm not sure when. Hopefully this Summer

They are cool. My problem is figuring what to get.
It has to be very personal clearly. Do you sit down and write out all the things that matter and are important to you?

Thanks! I'm getting ready to begin a black and grey sleeve and yours show how to do it without it looking cluttered. Lots of men have black and grey sleeves but unless you're very careful and have a great artist, it can look like you arm was dipped in ink with some parts of it covered in wax...Great work, I'm now ready to offer up my right arm. (The left one is in an immobilizer.)

Nice work. Makes me want to have my half sleeve finished.

Thanks guys! My artist is super talented, she did everything on me.

@lynchy: I always have plans for more, I'm totally addicted, I even have to stop myself going in to just get them to run the needle over me.

@ian: they are all super personal and mean many different things to me, and for the most part, the image came into my head, I drew it (I'm not too bad at pencil sketching) and then took it to Liesje to redraw and size up. But for the raven, I told her I wanted a raven, and what I wanted it to symbolise them let her have free reign, then the forearm is a memorial to my grandparents which we fitted in to that much later on.

That is awesome.  Is there red under your forearm I spotted in one pic?

I only have one tat but I want to build on it, I just never get around to focusing on what I want to add and how-- by now there is so much it's overwhelming.  I first got it imagining it would be the start of a "sleeve" (except on my leg--pant??) and that I'd add to it every year or so.  Just hasn't worked out.

@Bella Yup, I have a soundwave in red and black, it's a noise waveform (it would be a rather distorted white noise) with a pure sine wave over the top. I guess you could call it a pant, if you ever want to have a chat about ideas, I'm always happy to brainstorm and give any advice you may want.

@Npsbg: glad you like it!

You guys are so cool. All together I've had about 80 hours of work done, a photo can't quite capture the insane detail.

80 hours!! Makes my 3 hours seem pathetic!!  ;D

Got a few ideas for a sleeve of my own, just need to tie em together.

The time a good tat takes isn't measured in hours for to be as great as you and your artist want it to be, there is no such thing as time. There's patience and understanding and appreciation but beyond that, nothing. (Well some count money. I've had guys show me a tat and say, "Wanta guess how much that cost?" And, frankly,no. I have an eagle in black and gray on my chest that's 34" wide and goes from just above my navel to my throat. Wings take time and I haven't a clue as to the actual time I was in the chair. If you want ink, good ink. time has no meaning.

Beautiful work Slyfive.  Much better than those that I have.  I went last week and had a very small kanji symbol tatted on the nape of the neck.  I thought it would be cool to have the symbol for BALD! I know, I have a weird sense of humor.

;D I like that!! Hope you researched and made sure you found the right kanji!! Too many stories of people walking round with completely the wrong one, often humourously!!

Ain't that the truth, too often people try to 'save money' and end up with a disappointing piece.

Beautiful work Slyfive.  But you sure have a lot of background left.  A sly scalp makes a great canvas!

The only meaningful measure of one's tattoos is the amount of pleasure they give YOU.

The cost of my ink is no one's business but mine, and I do not know or care how much I spent for it.

I don't know or care how much time I spent on it. For that question I have two replies.  Which one I give depends upon my attitude toward the questioner:

     Fourteen years

             OR

It took over three weeks.  I got some sleep while my artist worked, but he just kept grinding away at it until it was all finished.  I don't know how he did it!

I have to say Txta2, I'm in awe of your work, I love your outlook and the fact that you love it for all the right reasons. Being tattooed is a part of who I am, and I intend to continue building on it. I constantly have the itch for more, but can't afford it right now... But you're right, there's far too much background showing!

Much better than those that I have

If they mean as much to you as I'm sure they do, then they definitely aren't better, they may be very different, and maybe not as technical, but they are you, and you can't get better than that. Thank you so much for your compliment though, I can't deny I'm proud.

Hey Slyfive, outstanding work!  I dig the whole black & white thing.  Really makes the subtle red pop.  I'm almost done with my left sleeve, only to find out that my artist is moving to Hawaii.  Better get a lot more work done between now and then.

Thanks freckleddome, glad you like them. I have to say, there's never a bad excuse to get more tattoos! (Well, most of the time).

Thanks Southworth, the artist is a genius, and don't worry, I may be addicted, but I've got my whole life to do it so there's no hurry
