Hello everyone-
For months now some of the Moderators have been receiving complaints from various members about some behaviors on the Forum. The Mods have all chatted about this recently and the decision has been made to remind everyone of the Forum rules. It has also been decided to enforce the rules a little more strongly.
We do NOT want to stifle conversations or individuality BUT we do want to make sure the Forum is presented in as good a light as possible for ALL who come to visit and perhaps join.

If you are in violation of any of the rules you will be contacted privately by a Mod and asked to take care of whatever the issue may be. If you are not sure why the item you are being contacted about is a violation of the rules, PLEASE contact the Mod and ask. Please don't argue with the Mod and please be respectful. No single person has been singled out.
I'm going to list a couple of things that some of the Mods have heard multiple complaints about so that if you feel you are in violation you can go ahead and make the move to change it before you are even contacted.
Four of the biggest things we hear complaints about are:
Inappropriate screen names
Inappropriate or provocative avatars
Inappropriate comments in signature lines (including political statements)
Thread hijacking
We'd also like to clean up the "me too" posts. "Me too" is fine but add a little substance to it.
One last note.... if you have ANY Moderator on IGNORE I would advise that you remove the IGNORE. Every Mod feels that this is a bad idea. Sometimes Mods have IMPORTANT info to pass to the entire Forum and if you have that Mod IGNORED you will miss the information. This post is a perfect example of the type of information that I'm referring to.
The Mods get an occasional complaint about something on the Forum but recently the number of complaints has increased so we want to "refocus" the Forum just a bit.

Can't believe this is having to be said again.
There is no need for it. The old saying "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all" seems to ring true here.
Let's get that harmony back guys, everyone here are a great bunch of guys and gals, let's cut the bs, get it all sorted, shake hands and move on O0

I have to admit I havn't seen too much of what has been mentioned in the original post which goes to show what a good job the mods have been doing. Having modded on forums in the past I know it is a pretty thankless task treading that fine line of what is best for the forum whilst not coming across as a power. Unfortunatly there are allways going to be a few members on any forum (or in life in general) who for whatever reason just like to be plain awkward, that's their problem at the end of the day and it probably bugs them more than it does me.
This forum is a great help too many aswell as a source of enjoyment, if folks don't like it or the rules it asks us to follow (which aren't exactly OTT) then stop visiting the site, it's not compulsory.

Mike, thanks for the post! However, this highlights something that I've noticed. The ignore feature doesn't work––or if it does, it does not work in the fashion that I assumed it did.
I would assume that the ignore feature would hide any posts from a member that you theoretically blocked, but this is not the case. Posts from blocked members still show up.

Hmmm.... this has come up a couple of times recently. I'll have to check with Tyler and the other Mods on this. Thanks for pointing it out.

All it seems to do is prevent the ignored member's posts from showing up in the "Recent Posts" section at the bottom of the main page. But if you click on a thread to read it, the ignored member's post is there with the rest of them.

I noticed the same thing, RaxorX. I also thought it meant the person couldn't contact you via PM. Is that function working?

I thought that ignoring someone would be like blocking someone on Facebook.....Neither the blocker nor the blocked person can interact with each other whatsoever.....

Ignore option seems to work fine for me.
