Hello guys and gals,
Todd here from Texas, I am new to shaving my head. After a couple years of dealing with gray hair and it's wildness in growing it's own directions, I kept getting it cut shorter and shorter. At some point in the last 2 months, I said the hec with paying a barber to cut it. So I started shaving it with balding clippers on my own. It's great and I think I will start shaving it bald soon as well. Will be looking on here for advice on razors, cream and moisturizing and any advice on the topic in general. Also, hoping my head eventually colors in with the rest of my face and body in general, not sure how long that takes but don't want a shiny white glowing dome. See you all on the boards. Great to be here.

Welcome Todd!
The head gets some colour pretty quickly with some sun time.
Having it clippers first it should already have built up some tan.
Let us know how you get on!

Welcome to the club.

Welcome Todd. You won't have trouble getting color being in Texas, particularly with the days lengthening.
Getting rid of the gray (which was my reason) will rejuvenate you.
Welcome to the community.

One thing I have noticed when I am coaching baseball. Baseball caps are uncomfortable and irritating, is this just from being new to shaving my head or are ballcaps generally uncomfortable on a bald head? I only like to wear them when i am in the sun for hours to protect my head but it irritates the hec out of me.

You're not alone in that. I used to wear ball caps all the time until I started shaving my head. And now I can't stand 'em!

Welcome to the Fortress Of The Follicly Challenged.
Thanks for sharing your story.

I assume you mean the fitted baseball caps (which I wear mostly) If you need to wear headgear, maybe a flexfit cap might be better. A regular adjustable cap isn't bad, but you run the risk of getting sunburned inside the area between the cap and the strap.

SlySirHarry thanks for that tip, never thought of the adjustable cap leaving a hole for sun to get to the dome. Yes the fitted caps are irritating, will have to give the flex ones a go. Maybe just adjusting to the feel as well. Thx
