Hi guys,
You might know that I have an on/off-relationship with my shaved head. Now I did it again. I am on a business trip for a week and went for a haircut last friday. The last two days I always had to look at the receding hairline at the temples (maybe it is just in my head). So today I went do a barber and just asked for a baldie. I got one. Now it is smooth. I know my father who will catch me at the airport will be surprised at least. Save my mother and grandmother. And my boyfriend will be furious - just like the last time I shaved last August. That is the reason why I have not kept it by the way. So hopefully(!!!) I will habe the strength this time.
Regard,
-
hope the inner baldie wins out :)

Although I think it's of the utmost importance to do what you feel is best for you, there are times you need to at least consider those around you.
So ... whatever you do ... welcome back to the forums.
-
Your boyfriend will get used to it. Mine did.
-
Welcome back, 0mm! I guess you just can't stay away from sly!
-
Welcome back!
You gotta be true to yourself - be sly and be proud. Your BF will get used to it.
-
I must say you look great and you have a perfectly shaped head. I think you boyfried is crazy not to love it.

Here's an update. Returned home with some stubbles on my head (3 days of growth) my father was okay with it, but my mother and not so much. Questions like "Why did you do it?" and complaints like "You have such great hair". I said it is my business and she should respect that. I value here opinion but I make my own decisions. Later I saw my bf how said the same as my mother. But as I live with him in one apartment he makes it harder for me. I gave him the same answers. After returning to our apartment I shaved my head again in the shower. Did it again today. The only hair I plan to grow out is my beard.

That's right! Show 'em who's boss!
-
just stay with it. it is you all will learn to accept that

Today was/is my first day at work with my shiny bald head. Shaved again this morning, but only with my electric brown Cruzer. But bald is bald, right? My colleagues gave me some "Wow" reactions, but nothing bad so far. Met some friends yesterday which I have not seen in years. Same: "Wow, is this the new trend?" was one reaction.
Does anyone else feel "less bald" when the stubbles begin to grow and your head feels like sandpaper?
-
Good job on the resolve to stay on the smooth side 0mm. Being shaved for the most part of the last 15 years, I feel hairy already if I have a few days' growth. Great new photo by the way.

Does anyone else feel "less bald" when the stubbles begin to grow and your head feels like sandpaper?
Absolutely. With me, it's the opposite way. I am generally a clipper shaver...currently alternating weekly between #000, #00000 & #000000. Even when I use the #000000 to clippershave, I consider my head 'tightly buzzed' rather than 'shaved". I know it looks shaved to everyone else, but to me it's not really shaved unless I break out the razor. So, right now, I am 3 days after a #000 clippershave. I wouldn't consider my head as shaved, but many others would.

Saturday was my 11th day with a shaved head and the 8th with my boyfriend. He still complains but less than he used to. No problems at work. I have not seen too many friends since I shaved my head. I had the idea of updating my facebook profile pic but did not yet do it.

Absolutely. Before going out for the day, the heads needs to be clean shaven.
0mm, do you think you can stick to the 30 day shave trial ?
-
Personally, I think it looks very natural. You will be much more at ease if you listen to your inner voices than those around you (regardless of how well-meaning they may be).
-
@Mr Jules: I have the intention to stick to the 30 days rule. I shaved daily for over a week now. So anybody who sees me sees me bald. And the beard grows too

Good. The bald look suits you well. :)
If you really want to grow a beard then do not shave it for at least 30 days. Then you can decide what you want to do.
-
You looked good with the shaved head before, but BETTER with the combination of the shaved head and beard...
I haven't seen many of your posts before, so forgive me if I ask: are you balding, or is this BBC?
-
@Mr Jules: Another 30 days rule? ;-)
@benlen: Most people would consider me BBC. My hair is a bit receding at the temples and a bit thin on top. But this is more a problem for me than for others. Most people would say I have a full head of hair. But I could only see the big forehead and the thin hair on top.

Yes, another 30 day rule. ;)
The 30 day beard rule is easy. Do not shave your beard for 30 days !

Similar boat to me––but if we notice it, that's what matters. If shaving makes you feel better about yourself, do it.
Also, I find it odd that your boyfriend is so anti-shaving––does he love your hair, or YOU?
-
Your BF is just used to seeing you with hair... perhaps its a big change for him... he will come to accept it fully in time...as for your mother..... well mothers will be mothers.... they worry.... she will come around as well. good luck dude and I think the beard really compliments your sly head....
-
You look wonderful - -shaved BALD - - -You are a grown up - -do what makes you happy - - -All the others will get use to the BALD HEAD
-
I think that you really suit your new look, the beard looks great at that length.
Your boyfriend will get used to it eventually, it's not like you got a lip plate fitted or a HUGE tattoo of Lady Gaga or anything!
-
0mm,
You look great sly. I like the beard too. I agree witht he others. It is your head. DO what you want to do. They will get used to it.
-
The sly style does look excellent on you IMO. I notice the longer I'm sly, the more folks around me accept it which is good because being a slyette comes with more weight than being a sly guy I think.
Anyways hope it gets more comfortable for ya as you continue to keep it sly.
I'm proud of myself because I just updated my fb pics with my sly self so its the first time fb has seen me really sly except in avatars. The reactions were both positive and hilarious - some of my friends just about fell out! Haha.
-
Thank you for all your support. This really means a lot to me! Just to let you know: I have no plans to grow my hair back.
@benlen: You are right: It only matters what it means for us.
-
that's the spirit! fantastic news

I am still sly. Shaved again this morning. It is now over two weeks (17 days) since I went sly. On Sunday I visit my parents who have seen me with three days of growth but not sly (and even that did not please my mother). I think I will shave on Saturday but not on Sunday so that the shock is a bit smaller :-\

Good to hear you are staying sly.
I am guessing that your mother will only say something when she first sees you. But nothing after that.
-
Mothers reactions can be a bit over the top. My mum and my step-mum were completely against my bald head initially but 2 weeks into the 30 day rule they have got over it and its not mentioned any more. That's the great thing about the 30 day rule, it's all about everyone including yourself getting used to the new you.
-
Shaved again today. There will be practically no hair on my head tomorrow.

Good. Keeping going. How many days until you complete the 30 day trial ?
-
12 more days
-
Well done mate! Just ahead of me by a few days. Nearly there!
Nice new profile photo Mr Jules! Your beard looks fuller than before.
-
So I shaved yesterday and arrived at my parents today. No reaction. Nothing. Because I am spending the night at my parents I packed my shaving equipment and plan to shave again tonight. This is a big breakthrough for me as a bald man because my parents reaction was always my biggest concern.
-
Great news mate! You must be very happy/relieved!
-
I am!
-
keep going. you are nearly there
-
No reactions! I shaved last night before going to bed and showed up sly at the breakfast table. No comments. Nothing. And my parents also did not comment on my beard. I am so relieved. Now there is nothing standing between me and my future as a bald man. My bf did stop complaining a week ago. Only sometimes he mentions how much he likes my hair. but no more whining.

Your friends and family are adjusting to your new look. Soon they will completely forget.
No more worries for you.
Viel Spaß !

Thank you for the Support.
@adamski: cool new pic!
-
Thanks 0mm, not looking my best as I was in the middle of a 12 mile coastal path run but thought it made a nice profile pic.
-
30 days!
-
Good for you 0mm. Stay happy and bald. You look great.
-
Nice! As others have said, they'll have to get used to it. That's how I'm approaching mine. Anyone who doesn't like it I just explain to them that it's what I want for myself and that's all that matters.
-
Congratulations mate! Just reached 30 days myself. It's a great feeling isn't it! Here's to many more!
-
0mm, glad to hear you finally made the breakthrough. I temember when I joined lasy August you were going for it, glad to hear you have been able to go for what you wanted, and as you find out people get used to things when they realise it's what you really want..... :)
