I'm curious to know how many head shavers out there are bald by choice vs being MBP or just thinning. I'm BBC and and wouldn't have it any other way.
-
I have a "goose egg" slowly forming on my dome and an island on the front of the dome that is also slowly forming. The more hair I grow the more noticeable it is.

MPB..."USE" to be an issue for me...now, it helped lead me to the path of the slyness O0
-
full head here as well

BBC....
but have always had what looks to be a norwood#2 hairline, pretty much all my life, so compared to dudes like GBORN or Danyroo ( way FULL HEADS goin' there), I would look to be more on the MPB side...
But chalk me up as BBC ;)

Beyond MPB here...started buzzing it in '98. This past winter BaldRob introduced/counseled me on my need for a HeadBlade. Believe his words were,"It's almost gone anyway." Thanks BaldRob!
-
I'm just helping Mother Nature. I enjoyed my long hair while I had it, but just like my first girlfriend and favorite dog, it left me.
-
Mother nature, had cowlicks at an early age, about 1999 i shaved my head with clippers, liked it, then tried a razor, been Sly every since...

BBC for nearly two months O0

Some of you BBC guys who have been sly for a long time may not have as much choice as you may think. Remember that famous Seinfeld episode? >:D
I can actually relate to that episode a bit. I shaved a few times and regrew before the thinning and recession got too bad. When I went sly permanently, I really didn't know it was going to be the last time I ever saw my hair. I thought there was still time to grow it back if I wanted to. After six months of shaving, I decided to grow it back only to find that I had become very much MPB during that time frame. It's hard to notice how thin you're getting when everything is shaved off. Since I had light colored hair, there was never much of a shadow anyway, and since there was still some hair growing on top (and there still is now) I really didn't know how bald I was until I stopped shaving for a week and saw how sparse it had become.
-
Definatly BBC, but I would love to be loosing it, then I wouldn't have to shave so often. O0

Haven't the tables been turned. A guy with hair wishing he was bald. Oh, it is good to be SLY.. O:O
-
MPB. Did combovers for decades. Now that I've experienced what my head looks and feels like Sly, and would shave it all off even if I had a full head of hair. You're never to old to become Sly. I don't even think about MPB anymore.

MPB. I was doomed from childhood. I always had really thin, blonde hair. There were all kinds of MPB male members of my family so I knew that was my destiny. I prefer bald anyway....its the easiest hair style of them all.
-
i saw the inevitable and got rid of it before it started to give me self image issues. now i am even more confident than before. (and i was told i was arrogant before) :*)) but anyway, i don't think i will ever have hair again. probably cause it has gotten too bad since i shaved it.
-
Well it will be a mix when I do it. As in Im going bald anyway, but have alot of hair left, but prefer to beat mother nature to it

BALD BY CHOICE here !! O0
Being the founder of the BALD BY CHOICE MEN group un Yahoo! could not be
otherwise....
Being shaving my head for more that 11 years... used to have full head of hair
until few months ago... then decided I wanted it actually bald instead of just shaven...
guess that now if I let my hair grow back I would be MPB...
but no plan to let it happen!!
Keep it smoot!!!

What did you do to get rid of the hair?
Simply tweezed all of my scalp hair out using an electric epilator ("silkepil").
You can read more about the mothod on Tom's site www.scalptweezing.com
It's a painful process the first initial time when you tweeze out a full head of
hair but after that it's much easier, as you just tweeze out the regrowth,
it's just maintenance.
Have been thinking about going for it for many years as I hated the dark
scalp shadow I always had even just after a shave; now I have no shadow,
scalp is even with my forehead as actually there's (almost) no hair at all
on the scalp.
Don't go for it unless you plan to go permanently bald as tweezing out the
hair will cause hair loss.

Ouch!...but it would be awesome to be completely bald with no shadow...I would totally do it, but I'm pretty wimpy...
Post some upclose pictures of the shadowless dome, would love to see it, as I'm sure others here would!
Keep rockin' the bald sly look my brutha! O0

The horsehoe is history...the keg's (two maybe) have been ordered...consider it a done deal! O0

QUESTION: Can anyone think of a single example of a guy who looks better with the horseshoe than completely sly? I suppose there must be a one or two somewhere, since there is an exception to every rule, but I sure can't think of any.
I know how tough it can be to let go of the remaining strands on top, but if you're down to just the fringe and a slick bald top, I don't understand the desire to hold onto the horseshoe. It serves no purpose.

What's worse is when you hear a wife or girlfriends WANTING a guy to give up the SLY look for the MPB horseshoe look...I've heard about it from some dudes (older) that I know...
I will NEVER understand that! :/O

P.S. glad you're stickin' with the "Mr. Clean" all around look for the summer...just takes a while to make it feel 'right'...looks good dude! O0

I have been slowly going bald since my 30's. First the front got thin. While the front is not totally gone, the lower part is. Now I have thinning hair where I can see that the horseshoe area is much thicker than the areas that are thinning. As for the Seinfeld episode with the dude who discovered he was thinning after he grew his hair back, I can relate to that. After I started shaving my head, I had grown it back and a co-worker made a point to let me know that the back of my head was getting see-through. I wasn't distressed, but it did cement my decision to have "sly" as my primary look. So put me down as MPB!
-
Hey guys,
MPB here too, I would have to say I fall into the goose egg in back and islet in the front category, lol.
I just went to the barber this morning, told her to buzz me down to #1 all around and blend the sides with a #0a , I believe it was. Man! what a difference!! I love it.
Now I can really see my noggin shape. It looks good! I am going to be sly before the end of July. I am concerned about the white head part where I have not gotten any sun. I can see the line where it breaks from tan to white. Going to have to get some sun on it and gradually it should blend in.
Also, on the horseshoe thing, I agree I just don't get how they can leave that hair there, it is doing nothing but looking bad.
I worked with an older guy and he had a gray horseshoe and when he would go get his "haircut" he would leave it. I asked him once why he doesn't just buzz it down, shave it off, and his answer was, get this " no , no way , you think I want to be bald , that's ridiculous looking".
I just wanted to say , no that horshoe of hair that rings your scalp is what is ridiculous looking. I chalk it up to the fact that some guys cannot let go of the hair thing. I see it everyday on my commute to work , the horrible combovers, just holding on to these long wisps. They must think it looks good somehow.
Anyway, I am not going there, the best thing to do is go with Mother Nature. Buzz it down and shave it off. I feel liberated with a #1 buzz, I can only imagine how a clean shave must be.

Hey Danyroo, you look like a completely different person than your picture from last summer.
