Has anyone ever had any negative comments about being bald. I was a little nervous about what family and friends would say about it, but so far everyone said they liked my bald head.

My daughters scowled about it at first, but they got used to it. Wife thought the 'feel' was creepy at first. Everyone else loved it. The family members have come along and wife likes the feel now. I love the head rubs. Makes my day.
Given your profile picture, you look great with a shaved head. Looks smart.

Not really. I'm a scary guy so people kept their opinions to themselves. :)

Negative--wife, oldest daughter--who relented. Wife never really has bought in.

mostly my female friends said that they like my longer curly hair better - but I never really felt good with that hairstyle

It has been so many years now that I can't remember LOL. But I got more head rubs than anything. I do believe I was called Mr. Clean a couple times. Because I wear a captive hoop in my left ear.

Twice from my mom based in large part on the outfit I was wearing at the time. Overall, though, she thinks it suits me. The bf didn't like it at first but warmed up to it. My sister and a fellow crew member on my ship still don't like it.

Only outright negative comments have been from my mother... heck, it's almost 16 years since I took the plunge and she still nags me about it every now and then :P Apart from that, only neutral or positive reactions.

All positive comments from people I care about.
Only negative comments (and very few at that) from people whom I couldn't care less about.
Of course, all that matters is really how I feel about it.

Most of the outsiders in my life didn't care.....As for my family, the only three people who had anything negative to say are all deceased....Life goes on...and so does my bald head!

I had a negative comment today. I have been back and forth to sly for many years. I mostly stay bald but have grown my hair but last time I shaved it I felt I probably couldn't go back to hair again as the ship has sailed.
The negative comment was actually about my hair and not me and someone said your bald spot was getting really bad! It made me realise how much others do take note but may not comment!

Mostly positive comments. My family did not have anything bad to say. One of my pastor friends loves it (then again, he is bald too.) I've heard lots of comments about looking like a friend of mine (who is bald and bearded.) I think the weirdest comment was when a coworker finally noticed I was bald. I've been this way for about a year.

I've been bald for 10 years & last month my dad asked me if I'd had a haircut (!!)
I'd lost a little weight & he couldn't figure out what was different about me..

My mother doesn't like it but she'll come around one day. All my friends and co-workers either loved it or were indifferent. All good!

I think I faced similar reactions as most of you. My mom did not like it all (and I only showed her the version with stubbles), my father was indifferent. And my bf is still getting used to it. No (negative) reactions at work and from friends so far.

I see that for most of you guys its your mothers that seem to mind.. in my case its quite the opposite... my mother always prefered a buzz cut on me.... when i started balding she was the most supportive person in the world.....although recently for some reason she said..."you would look more handsome if you had hair"..... she didn't mean it in a negative but for some reason her comment really pissed me off... lol. but i still love my mum....

My close friends have said that they prefer me with hair (what little of it remains when I forget to shave at least). It's okay for me though, as I'm glad that they feel comfortable enough me to express their true opinions. In the end, the choice is mine--ours! ;)

slane, that's also the way your friends think of you (with hair). They'll adapt rather quickly and forget even what hair looked like.
Just wait them out.

To date (almost 2 months now) I have not received one negative comment, although I've had many positive remarks.
I do believe it is easy for folks with positive comments to express themselves and maybe those who would be negative are smart enough or polite enough to keep their opinions to themselves.
