I ran into a friend last night that I had seen once before since going SLY. This guy is a little older that me and has quite a bit more hair loss than I did. I had not said anything to him about his hair when I saw him before but he had remark about how he liked my new cut. I quickly noticed last night that he had buzzed it down to at least a 1 or below. I said "I like the haircut". To which he replied "Thanks, I couldn't bring myself to shaving quite yet."
I told him thats alright, it took me awhile, too. Has anyone else unknowingly influenced others to the SLY way?

Interesting you bring that up KC. My next door neighbor never removes his ball cap because his MPB has progressed so and he has the worst possible combover when he does remove it. Last night we were sitting there and he began to question me about how often I shave the dome. When I said daily he thought that might be a lot of work. I said no, use a special razor and products and it goes quick. I then mentioned enjoying the freedom of not worrying about my hair and recommended this site. He said nothing but began nodding. Maybe the sly confidence is having an effect on him and the seed is planted. We'll see.

Paul, I think its not what is said that counts. O:O

Most of my friends are still hanging tough with their hairlines, so I haven't had any influence. Though, all have commented on the sly look being a good fit for me.

I'm always telling people to 'Get it shaved !!',not many listen, but that does'nt stop me ;D

I was telling my wife's friend's husband about the site and what I do to shave my head. A couple weeks later his wife called mine and said I influenced her husband to shave his head and it made her cry. I didn't know if I should feel bad or laugh because I had the influence to get this guy to shave. I chose the latter. :*))

I'm focusing on the fact you made a woman cry.
Geez Ty, I thought you were a good guy.
-
Geez Tyler ... When you make a woman cry, you are then suppose to grovel yourself out of it .... Oh well, that wisdom will come when you turn 30!

And the sly side grows even bigger.

As you guys know, I just went sly this past Friday. A college buddy who works at the courthouse in my home town saw me today for the first time. He is a black guy. He was thrilled with my look. He keeps his hair knocked down pretty close. After seeing my slick dome, he said he was going home to lay a blade to his. This sly thing is cool.

That's pretty cool. I would love to the be reason that someone else decided to go sly.

That's cool. Another one comes to the sly side. I don't think I could let anyone shave me. I'd be worried they would nick me or something.

one of our new members: DA-REV-JUGGALO, had hair when i went on the boat. maybe after seeing how much damn cooler i am than he was. he shaved it last week. looks pretty good too. so i would like to think i was an influence, but probably not. owell he joined and is pretty frickin cool.

I hope so. None of my close friends are sly, nor is anybody in my family and it's not something that really ever comes up in conversation. But I get the impression that most of my friends wouldn't actually go sly themselves.
I would have thought by now that more of my friends would be seriously thinning and receding. A few are in the early stages but for some reason I always seem to be the only bald guy in the group.

RazorX, When I was still on the fence, you gave me some good advice and insight that helped push me over the edge. I'm certain that is the case with others in our group. 8)

To add to this should be a round of thanks to all the brothers in supporting each other to REMAIN sly. When I was a very recent BBC'er, I found this forum by asking advice as to whether or not it was worth it to keep the dome shaved. (Can't believe I even asked that question now!) It was the various supportive comments, humor and information that I found here that kept this guy sly for over 6 months and has helped me realize I was meant to be sly and will truly be sly for life.

I agree. Even after 3+ years into this, I was still having doubts from time to time and having days when I really missed having hair. I have had fewer and fewer of those moments the longer I've been a part of this group and actually can't remember the last time I felt that way. This forum has really helped bolster my resolve and confidence.
