I have decided. I'm done. Not with being sly! But with the everyday crap. My head is very sensitive and so is my skin, but i have not let up on the shaving at all. So I have decided I'm done with it! I'm giving it a 4 day break and that's final. My head is unbearably irritated. I think I may have killed some hair follicles

It's about finding a routine that works best for you.

I don't really know but maybe you're using too many products on your scalp?
Anyway, you need to stop as long as it takes to get healed. Try just going WTG for a while when you restart.

Joe, I'm not an everyday shaver either for the very reasons you stated. There is no written rule for shaving everyday. Although I screwed up big time this week. I am going to shave after cutting the grass today. My last headshave before today: Thursday, the 24th...OOPS! Can't be doing that number too often!

I might just do that. Thanks.
And thank you every one who gave me advise.

Hope the head is feeling better soon Joe.

Once your scalp feels better, I would just shave every other day. I shave everyday without any problems but I do take one day off during the week. I noticed that my head still looks good on the day I take off as long as I have a good ATG shave the day before.

I could shave my head every day but if I tried to shave my face daily I would be in a world of hurt (scalp is hardy but neck is sensitive as hell). Seeing as I shave both together, I only shave every 3 or 4 days. I suppose I could do the noggin daily & the face biweekly but its too tempting to do face after head; & I prefer to get in 'shave mode' & do the lot every time.

G'day Joe, I like Raulski and Harry only shave every 2-3 days unless I have multiple events 2 days in a row. Because I can't face shave daily (Yes I still shave some of my face haha) and my neck also doesn't really like it on a daily basis either.
I'd say just go with every other day for now mate, give it a try again in future if you want, but daily shaving isn't for everyone.
Let us know how you are getting on with the new routine O0

Hey slyjoe,
I have a very sensitive head too (comes with my naturally sensitive personality??? ok, maybe not...). I find that I have a lot of chemical sensitivities so I'm going to try Cella and RazoRock pre-shave and aftershave products because they have a whole lot less chemical junk in there. Other than that, I use Gold Bond Medicated lotion on my head and witch hazel after my shaves. This may change once I try to Cella and RazoRock stuff. I try to keep it pretty simple.
Have you tried a few different types of razors including single-blade or something like the Gillette Guard? I ordered a pack of those recently and I'm hoping that will help me with the razor burn/bumps. My neck is where I get it the worst. Someone here told me to shave down only on my neck, not up. So I'm going to try that too. I do as few passes as possible on my neck with the Mach 3. I'll be happy to ditch my Mach 3's and others for my new DE and Gillette Guard I'm quite sure!
Best of luck to you!

Sound advice all round SlyJoe. Best to give it some rest, then only shave again WTG once the inflammation has abated, and figure out a schedule that works for you. Also, don't know what your aftershave routine is, but seen as you're so young I'd say maybe avoid using too many aftercare products, and make the most of your skin's natural resilience instead.

Hey SlyJoe;
One product I've found that has so far been working wonders for me for aftercare is Trumpers Coral Skin Food. It's spendy to be sure, but I have to tell you that being very new to headshaving (almost a month, ya'll) I have at times given myself some razor rash on the sides of my head above the ears. In that area I have to come at it from several different directions and so of course the result is razor rash. After only a few hours with the Trumpers on the razor rash is almost faded away and the skin is not tender anymore.
Maybe it's only me but that stuff works wonders. I bought it because so many folks over at Straight Razor Place swore by it. It doesn't take a lot to cover your head so I can see the bottle lasting long enough to justify the cost. At least to me. YMMV.

How is it going, SlyJoe? Any update on the situation?

Hope all is going well with your new routine. I tend to take Saturdays off but if I let it go longer, then the stubble is an issue and the shave is hard. Good luck
