ok, so I've finally done it and I think it looks terrible - I'm not sure if I can keep that look for 30 days

Dude O0 You look good ! Trust me if I didn't like it I would tell you ! You look super man ! 199% better ! O0 8)
-
I think I look so much older now
-
Looks fine man, you've got a good shaped head there!
-
NO WAY man , you don't look old at all . You just got 10 years . You look great man , give yourself some time. Check out all these young guys and gals around here. You want to see old that would be me , and dern proud of it. O0
-
Good grief, dude. It's just the opposite to me. The "after" looks more youthful and a vast improvement. My advice: do the 30 days.
But it's ultimately up to you. It'll grow back if you let it.
-
Dang you ask me you look 10 years younger and more maturer then you ever did it works great for you and you have an excellent shape head. I would tell you if you didn't look good but I can't because the sly look works for you O0
-
haha, thanks crusher ;D you thin I look like 16 now? ;)
-
Well hair or no hair in my opinion it is no hair for you and is the look that works for you but that is my opinion and I am in 9th grade
-
Your eyes and eyebrows are, IMO, your strongest feature and they are SO much more prominent and stunning in the after pic. I think you look quite dashing, which might take some getting used to.
It might just be the shock of a new look -- sometimes even good changes are very difficult for us humans to accept. Everyone tells me I look better bald and I'm still doing double-takes every time I look at myself.
I'd say give it some time and if you don't like it after a week, or 30 days, or whatever, let it grow. But change is SO hard on us humans that it's not fair to judge a fairly radical update in the space of a day or two.
-
thank you bella! "dashing"? I like that :) maybe you've got a point, I just shaved my head only one hour ago and so far you guys and me are the only ones who have seen it so far, lets see how it will work out, but if I don't want a horse shoe thats the only option I have, so I'll better try to get used to it, I'm just scared what friends and family will say
-
Heck if its negative with oh well you have to live with the look not them so it is still your option to keep it or not bella has just done hers a week ago and she absolutely loves as you can tell O0
-
I'm telling you, and I'm NOT lying. You look tremendously awesome bald. I don't say that to everyone.
You look like one the best looking bald by choice! Keep it please. You would be doing yourself a favor.
-
I know what I say is impossible, but try not to worry too much about friends and family. They might blurt out something rude or be disapproving (OR they might be awesome and completely supportive) but try to remember it's YOUR look.
Imagine your mother was a redhead and went blonde and then approached you very nervously wondering your opinion and seeking your approval. You'd think she was balls out insane, right?
So even if you might say "jeez mom lay off the bleach" you're not the arbiter of her looks and nobody but you decides how you look.
(This is not to say your friends and family will react poorly, but even if they do, try to think of how you would feel about them if they got a haircut you hated? Not too bothered, am I right?)
It's totally totally natural to worry about what they're going to say; I'm only a week in and I'm still worried about those who haven't seen me. It's a natural worry but a pointless one, another human flaw.
I hope that wasn't too all over the place, I tend to ramble :)
-
Bella is right you are the one that is going to have to live with it and deal with it no one else does O0
-
much better!
-
Markus ....
I was hoping you'd shave your head. It looks super on you. But don't forget, part of the 30 days rule is to let YOU get used to the new look. I think it is dashing. But it may take you a little bit to get used to the new look.
From from this end, it looks quite well.
-
If no one has seen your shaved head but us, you have a treat coming when you take it out for a spin. Show it off and watch the reaction. I really enjoyed the first week out showing off my new bald head. Had good feedback.

Have to agree with you there I did enjoy my first week too it was fun for sure O0
-
thank you very much for all your compliments, I cant deny it - this feels good. And bella you are absolutely right and you are saying something I realized just about a month ago - and I am working on this on my own and with my therapist and I really try to do everything for my confidence but these are thing which don't change from day to day, and my biggest fear is still rejection and being alone but I finaly decided that I don't want to be determined by it any more - so I'm still on a journey :) and I'm glad you guys are a part of it
-
We're glad to be a part of it too! Please keep posting and sharing, whether you're up or down. We're here!
-
We are family Markus and we will always be here to help you never forget that O0
-
Markus, I think it looks great! And I'm not just blowing smoke.....But I do have a suggestion (although your hair was decent looking at your avatar.) If the look grows on you, try growing a nice goatee to accentuate your newly bald head...I don't know how old you are, but even with a goatee, I would give you about mid 20's....As far as people being critical, only people who are unhappy with themselves find time to find fault in others....Feel free to PM me if you still feel frustrated or need to vent...Ultimately whether you keep the look or not is up to you, we will respect your choice regardless...but I hope that you stay strong and stay sly!
-
I've no idea your actual age, but in your avatar I'd pin you at early/mid thirties, and the shaved look about 25.
I hope that is not devastating news, just my honest opinion. :)
-
thank you slysirharry, I am 26 and I tried to grow a beard in the last months but it didn't work out so well because its not very thick, maybe I would have to wait a little longer?
-
You probably will have to give it some more time O0
-
really? mid thirties in my avatar?? ??? good that I shaved my hair ;D
-
really? mid thirties in my avatar?? ??? good that I shaved my hair ;D
I'm sorry but you honestly did guess it was good that you did shave O0
-
I hope I didn't offend you! Looks like I was on the mark with the after, eh?
Besides nothing wrong w/ being in your thirties ;)
AND, when I had long hair in my mid-twenties people always thought I was in my mid-thirties. The shorter my hair gets the younger people seem to think I am. Been there.
-
If you don't have the patience for a full beard, I say you can have a fully developed goatee (Van Dyke) in roughly a month. It just takes a little patience (and a little shampoo for itching) Amazingly, most bald(ing) guys grow facial hair very fast!
-
Honestly Markus I think that it looks good on you. You just took a big step and it is going to take a while to adjust to the new you. I did it slightly more gradual then you by first doing a really short buzz cut. Then shaving it all off two months later. When I first buzzed my hair it was quite the change for me. I liked it right away but a small part of me was like man what did I just do?
In the end I really liked it and I like being bald even more. I wish that I would have shaved my head bald sooner, just like many people on here said that I would. Give it 30 days and realize that your second thoughts are normal, only because it is such a different look for you. I am willing to bet that you will love being sly by the time you finish your 30 days.
-
no problem bella, no offence taken, I just thought that I looked too young for my age :)
and thank you kevin, I already believe that it is agood idea to do the 30 days challenge. Is there someone on the forum who didn't like it at first and had to get used to it?
-
Not me I honestly love the feeling and can't stand growing my hair for two days now
-
It looks great!
Honestly you look much younger.
Hope you keep up the look!
-
It looks great. I vote u keep it up.
-
ok, so I've finally done it and I think it looks terrible - I'm not sure if I can keep that look for 30 days
You have absolutely nothing to be unhappy about. You look terrific! It takes some time to adjust so that is why the 30 day rule is important. Having gone this far, you owe it to yourself to live with the look for a little while. It looks good -- really!!
-
Your just nervous, it's a big thing to some people.
-
Marcus, when you had hair and you looked at yourself in the mirror most of your attention would have been on your facial features.
At this time when you look in the mirror most of your attention is on your bald scalp. Over the 30 days you will gradually move your main focus of attention from your scalp back to your face and then you will be quite happy with the way you look.
Similarly, when people who have known you as "haired" first see you their attention is drawn to your bald scalp and this can be an interesting time for them. After a very short time [minutes usually] they start to focus again on your face and forget about your bald scalp.
People who you don't know as a "haired" man who first meet you will pay almost no attention at all to your bald scalp.
You look good but the option is always open to let it grow back and eventually have a horseshoe -- but that could be years away.
Also, there is nothing wrong with a horseshoe -- I was quite happy with mine. But I love the freedom from "the tyranny of hair" -- hence the shaved head.
Why don't you upload the first bald pic as your new avatar?
-
You look really good with your shaved head. It would be a shame if you don't keep it!
-
I think it suits you! It nakes you look like a stronger and more confident person :)
I hope that you keep it!
(And a note to the mods... I accidentally reoprted a posting on this thread, I'm not sure which one. Its the perils of a touch screen phone. I meant to scroll down the screen and instead clicked on the wrong bit. Please can you disregard the report and accept my apologies)
-
Hi Marcus. You have made the right decision when you shaved your head smooth. You look great. the smooth dome brought out your facial features and you have a nicely shaped head. Im saying this not because I am biased towards shaved heads but because its true. Now time to change your avatar. :)
-
hm, just tried to change the avatar but it doesn't work - tried to upload or put in a link, any suggestions?
-
Maybe just try again? I've had to upload a new avatar pic a few times, it would just not "take" the first or second time and then loaded fine the third.
The site is also picky about image size, how big is the image file you're wanting to use?
-
Way to change the avatar pic, Markus! Give it time, you and others will get used to it.
-
Markus I have to agree with the others on this site. I think you look amazing!!! Very Handsome. Not older just more mature and confident!
-
Looks good in my opinion. I could take a while to get used, but you should not be worried about it, you look good.
-
You look great - -Now enjoy it - - -You are handsome , young and beautifully BALD - - -
-
I think Bella hit the nail on the head. In your after picture, the first thing we see is your eyebrows and eyes, which are very handsome. In the before picture, we first see your high forehead.
Being sly focuses attention on your best features.
-
When I first joinedhe site I thought we would get a free gift or bonus points for recruiting people into slydom. When I found out we didn't and this greatly disappointed me and I felt cheated, I wrote to Tyler several times to raise my dissatisfactionabout not receiving an incentive but then the penny dropped. I don't actually need to tell people they look great if they shave their head if they don't look good. So honesty is the best policy!
On seeing your previous pics it was obvious your hair was going, you still had enough to get by but it was going and the was starting to look a bit ragged. The fact that you have shaved it is a brave decision but a decision I think has made an improvement in how you look. The sad fact is you're actually a bloody good looking bloke and therfore quite sickeningly can not only pull of the look but really do have the looks to pull it off (note Chris Daughtry, Chip Wade as examples of this).
You have a great shaped head, it enhances your features and you look younger than that guy that was holding onto his hair for grim death.
You will take time to get used to it. Others may time to get used to it but as an observer that has absolutely nothing to gain, I think you have greatly improved how you were looking.
-
I'll chime in here and say like the rest ! BRAVO ! YR*(k
-
thank you so much for your support, I can't tell how glad I am that I found this site and got to know all of you, your support is really heart warming and means a lot to me, I hope I can give some of what you are doing for me and my confidence back, thank you so much, you are great!
-
Just wondering, Markus.....what did you use to do the deed?
-
I think it's about what you'll give to new members who facded the self confidence issues you did. You look great mate. Feel any better?
-

I am 9 days in and feel just the same way! So many kind words here, so much encouragement. I was SO scared and insecure about my new look when I joined. Now I'm more confident than ever!
Hang around, keep posting and you'll end up paying it forward, I'll bet! O0
-
Markus, you look great! Glad you finally made the plunge. A shaved head looks very natural on you. As I commented in one of your first threads here, you have a great head shape for a shaved head, and I'm glad I was right.
Looks tremendously better than holding onto the hair you were losing. You're obviously an attractive man and the ladies will dig the confidence inherent in choosing to shave your head. And it looks good too, don't forget that!
-
Makes you look older?
Why is looking older a problem?
Ming, for example, is only seventeen, and is glad that the SBG look has given him the apparent maturity he needs for effective despotism.
Nobody cards Ming.

And there you have it Markus ! Master Ming has spoken, and you can always go by what he says. O0

Just wondering, Markus.....what did you use to do the deed?
just saw how rapidly my hair was thinning in the front and I didn't want to wait and not know how it would be being bald - so I thought I take over control and go already bald (by choice)

Your bonus is on it's way!
In all kidding aside, Marcus it looks great! Stick with the 30 day rule and I'm pretty sure you'll be saying, "man, why didn't I do this sooner?"

Markus that is exactly why I shaved my head except I wasn't thinning O0

I already feel better, so far my father my new flat mate a friend of her and two friends saw the new look. my father likes it, he asked if I was going shaolin style because I recently joined a Wing Tsun class :) room mate said it suits me and now she said she already got used to it, her friend didn't know me before - she didn't bother at all and was quite nice, the two friends just asked why I did it but didn't say they like it or don't like, but it was no big deal
on thursday I will meet lots of friends who already know me for more then ten years, I'm a little concerned abouttheir reaction
-
There you go we know what we are talking about LOL ! What kind of razor did you use?
-
What kind of razor did you use?
Gillette Fusion
-
See you had nothing to worry about and you did a great job with the head shave O0
-
Yes indeed and it only gets better day by day ;) like Crusher said O0 No worries mate ! Maybe some of that was from all the great Aussie breathern. Any ways you look great O0 (**! YR*(k
-
You look great and Im sure plenty of guys where you live also shave. Know that you look great and that confidence comes from that and that people sense confidence and value that very much. I wish I would have shaved at your age and found that confidence then. You have it now, enjoy it !
-
I bet you'll have a great time on thursday. Sport a smile and the look like i own this new hairstyle, and the response will be positive or 'no comment'. I found many people either really liked it or said nothing. You're on the downward slide. The hard part is over. Now enjoy it.
Even your dad likes it.
-
Others may time to get used to it but as an observer that has absolutely nothing to gain, I think you have greatly improved how you were looking.
Same here ... it's a stunning improvement. Enjoy the experience of others meeting the "New You."
-
You look great, mate.
Stick to the 30 day rule...... your confidence will build the more you shave your head. That's what happened with me.
Your friends & family will get used to seeing you as being a bald guy & you will begin to enjoy the trip to being bald-by-choice.
You don't look older, only much more mature & confident.
Keep the smooth sly look going, bro.
-
It fits you well. You look more confident and professional
