I trimmed the beard I was growing down to a goatee. The thing is I suck at shaping and don't think this looks quite right. Can it be salvaged? Any advice or opinions would be appreciated. It looks fine, I'm no expert at beards considering i cant grow one. But my dad has a goatee shaped like that and the only person who notices it is him.
-
Looks fine as is Doug. Just don't stare so much in the mirror and you won't notice any flaws. "Face" it ... you have positive bald head attitude regardless of facial hair. Although ... you can always take it down to a chin strap or try adding soul patch to what you currently have or shave it all and just wear a soul patch. Hehe ... all these facial hair possibilities ... isn't bald really beautiful ?
-
It looks fine to me, but I think we always see the imperfections that others don't especially when it comes to trimming, shaping, etc. You may want to go to a barber and have them shape it up a little. It probably won't be noticeable to anyone else but if it makes you feel better about it, it's well worth it.

How high is it on your cheeks ? Is it the lightening ? Sorry bro. need a better shot , but doesn't appear you have damaged anything ;D O0
-
O0 Looks great bro. , but would bring the sides down a wee bit at a time from the mouth ! But looks great O0. Please post another pic.. Looking Good! I like the no stash ! Everyone has a full goat ! O0 Really shows the thinking man ;) .
-
I think it looks fine like that, Doug.
-
Doug I think it looks good the way it is. You have good thickness there. I have the goatee and moustache but if I was having just the goat that would be the shape. Nice look for one of our new moderators!

I'm sorry, I keep distracted by the face you are pulling. I think it looks cool the way it is, if you wanted to make it more of a traditional goatee you could trim the sides of your mouth down to below your lips. But I think it works the way it is. Just run with it and make it your own mate, at the end of the day it is you that has to be happy, just as with the shaved head O0

Haha! I hate taking self portraits for the very reason
Thanks for the comments guys.

Doug I do not see any problem at all it looks good for you though but if it is bothering you do what some of the other guys suggested O0

Looks good Doug, I like it!
-
Looks fine as is Doug, but I like the full beard better on you. What you like counts the most.
-
Looks good, Doug! I like your creativity! I don't know if I'm ready to give up my beard just yet but I am now down to a chinstrap again.
-
Without a mustache joining that goat, you look like a member of the Amish Mafia!! :*))
-
I was thinking along the lines of a sly Abe Lincoln myself......It looks good, Doug we're just pickin' with ya! ;D
-
Just call me Amish Abe. ;)

It would look better if you went up a little ... no, down a little, no, over to the left. Well, maybe up an inch.
But, that's a little thin on the right. Guess the full beard would be better. No, a little more narrow. Not so much lamb chops. About 3/4 would be great. Ah, 1/2. Etc.
-
OK, Ok, guys.. the truth is that his wife wanted to see his dimples again, so that ruled out the full beard.. am I right, Doug? -lol
-
I opted to take it back down to the original paint :)

Well he did ask for an opinion. Ask and you will receive.

I'm biased towards a full beard and if a goatee than prefer a mustache with it. However whatever rocks your boat is good.
-
We all do what is comfortable to us , and are darn proud of it. ;) It is nothing that we can't change at least on the face. That doesn't mean if the urge comes do it ! ;D The main thing is being happy with yourself . Need not say more. ;)
-
It looks good, however I think it would look better with a moustache aswell.
-
This is why I can't be creative with my beard as I just end up looking stupid (Just to clarify Doug, you don't look stupid!!!! Just in case that comes out wrong!!) I just can't do beards that require shaping.
Anyway back to you - I like you with a full beard more Doug, not sure about this style but you have to try!
-
Doug, it looks fine! About the only other comment I can add is "leave it alone and it will grow!" ;)
-
Doug looks great , with or without the beard ! O0 Facial hair is to have fun with, being Sly , even guys get bored . So we play with the facial hair. Itch , scratch, can't wait for it to grow comb, brush , look in the mirror that breaks. Look like a tramp, bushmaster, Sherlock H. scratch and burn our significant others. But it all comes down to Boys will be Boys ! O0 And rock on ! Relieve's the stress ! And knowing we still have some control in this world !
Good Day ! ;)

Great words Switchy O0

How is it going Doug with your facial hair? I just trimmed my goatee after growing it out pretty thick- it began to get ragged. I think a full beard would fit you too. Looks like you have the potential for pretty good growth daily.
-
It is no more. If I ever grow it out again, it will be a full beard.

"If"? :o :o

Looked good with the beard but its always good to play with our own personal style once in a while.
-
Doug, it looks like you have great coverage and density in your beard, so you could off pull of most any style. I do think some facial hair complements the sly look. Since you post is from some time back and I do not recall a recent photo, are you still Mr. Clean? As with going sly, you probably need at least 30 days with a style to really know if it is a keeper. Drastic changes take some time for the shock of looking in the mirror to fade and reveal the true reflection in the mirror.
I suggest you experiment with several different styles to see which you like best. It is easiest to start with the full beard, and then take progressive trimming steps through the "smaller" styles.
Since some facial hair styles are more maintenance than others, how much time you want to invest in trimming and shaping will be a consideration. Detailed styles such as a narrow chin strap require daily shaving, trimming, and shaping to maintain and look neat, and a slight error is very noticeable. Other styles are more forgiving and can easily be expanded over a week or two to repair a trimming error without anyone but ourselves noticing. The full beard is probably the lowest maintenance style, requiring just occasional cheek line and neck line shaping, and trimming to the desired length.

I think that you should shave the chin hair & go w/the clean-shaved look. It looks better.
