Title: Still see hair
Post by: Steve7de3 on January 14, 2013, 01:49:44 PM
Today is my first day of shaving. I want to know why there is still hair on top of my head that I can see though I can't feel it. It's smooth as can be but I still can see a thin dark area on my head, how do i get it completely completely bald? I use Gillette fusion Pro glide as a razor and edge gel for shaving cream. Thanks

The Shadow

Welcome, don't worry we almost all have one of one size or shape--only thing, only another Sly Guy will notice, and he won't care.  No problemo.

Ok. Thanks much. Just didn't know if that was normal. Thanks again

Welcome,

Always remember what 'you' can see and what 'others' will see are very different things!

As popular a belief as it is around here, I really don't think it is only other sly guys who can see the shadow. Especially when it comes to guys with dark hair and pale skin. But you'll learn to live with it. Don't let it bother you. It's better than the thinning look, that's for sure.

And even with it showing you are still completely bald if it feels smooth. It's just the cut end of the hairs at or slightly above/below the scalp depending on how you shave it.

It looks good anyway so enjoy it.

Oh yeah, as Lynchy says you are focussing on your head much much more than anyone else. No one else really cares about a shadow.

I agree ... but the difference is that if non-Sly guys notice it they don't care, where some Sly guys will care.

It's like this. A fellow at work buzzes his head #1. I shave my head. When I told my wife that Bob needs to shave his head, she said, he already does. He's bald like you are.  No, he buzzes, but does not shave his head.

She does not see the difference.  I do.

The shadow is seen by you and other head shavers. Virtually no one else.  Others perceive it as bald .  Show off your bald head. Wear it proudly.

Steve, the shadow, as many of the guys have said, is a part of life for the bald man. However, once you get your shaving technique down pat, you may want to invest in a shaving brush. Shaving brushes make the razor glide better giving you a smoother shave, IMO. Good luck!

Like the other guys said, there isn't anything to be done about the shadow. It just is. But it's most noticeable the first few shaves. After you get a little color on your head from the sun, it will blend in a bit.

When your hair goes white: problem solved*.

Time heals all.  And in the meantime....  what you see is what you get.

*for those SLY who are "palefaces," of course.
