I recently ordered more Head Slick shaving cream from Headblade. Since I started using it I have experienced horrible acne/skin bumps on my head. I have never experienced this before. I noticed that the bottle has changed. Does anyone know if they changed the shaving cream? Just curious because this is driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Steve!! Great to see you back on the Forum!
I just finished my last bottle of HeadSlick about a month ago.... and it did seem a bit different to me. I also had small pimples in certain areas that I could not get rid of. I never thought about it being the HS but once I stopped they went away. I wrote it off to the fact that I had switched to some better products but now that you mention it...............

What would those better products be Mike?
-
Hey guys, I'll check with Todd to see if anything in the formula has changed.
-
Tyler: I would appreciate it if you would check on this. I have been a HB user since I went sly 5.5 years ago and never had this problem, even when I first started shaving. Don't want to leave the HB fold but can't stand these bumps. Isn't it amazing how we want our heads to look a certain way even when we don't have hair. LOL :*))

Hey Mike, it is good to be back. I have missed this board. What shaving cream did you select and how do you like it? Thanks.

I'd be interested to see if it's changed too. I thought the last bottle seemed less mentholated, lower viscosity and didn't lube as well as previous ones. I'd attributed it to just getting stuck with one that the drug store found buried in their warehouse as they don't stock more than 2 bottles on the shelf at once. I hope nothing changed, love their products.

Steve and Graham-
I changed not only my actually shaving products but also my post shave products, at the same time, so I can't speak to what cleared up my head exactly.
First I changed from HeadSlick to higher quality shave soaps. I like the RazoRock line, Mike's Natural Soaps, and my most loved... Cella.
I really like the RazoRock XXX and Classic. You can check out the RazoRock line and the Cella at www.italianbarber.com
They are in Canada but do NOT let that keep you from ordering from them. Their customer service is outstanding and their prices very good. Shipping is very reasonable.
A tub of any of these soaps will last a nice long time and you will NOT find a better smelling, comfortable way to shave. They cost about the same as a jar of HeadSlick (maybe a small bit more but worth it).
My new post shave products all come from a new company. Check them out at www.BeeBald.com
I use their exfoliator, Moisturizer, and their healing product (this one only as needed). All of their products only require a pea sized drop to do the job. They are premium products so they are a bit pricier but don't let that scare you off. If you have to choose only one of their products.... and this is a tough choice for me... I would choose the exfoliator. I use it in the shower after my shave and my head literally feels as smooth as glass after using it.
I'm not affiliated with any of these products but I LOVE every one of them.

As always, HeadBlade has some kick ass customer service and response time. Here's the email I got from Mac:
Hi Tyler,
In the past year or two we did make a manufacturing change to HeadSlick by removing all parabens. Given the amount of research linking parabens to cancer we felt it was a necessary change. I am surprised that some of your guys are having trouble with the newer formula. I keep samples of each production run and the appearance is consistent. I don’t see any reason why they may have experienced pimples when using Slick either as we did not add anything to the product that may cause a reaction.
You can feel free to offer my personal email (Mac@HeadBlade.com) if anyone would like more information about the change or problems they may be having.
If you have any questions please let me know.

Todd also followed up to say that it would be best to provide the Lot Number on the bottom of the bottle if you write Mac as this will help him pinpoint things easier.

Wow,
That is some crazy customer service IMO. Paraben free is a great thing!
-
Forever amazed. Headblade really is a great customer orientated company
-
Awesome customer service.... Hands down!!!
-
Glad to see Headblade has put focus on getting the unnecessary ingredients out of their products, which is what keeps me from using them as it is. O0
-
Yet another example of the great customer service that HeadBlade always shows to their customers.

Steve:
I have just opened a new container (bottle) of Headblade mentholated shaving cream (Head Slick) and I have been getting bumps on the side of my head - - The new bottle is Paraben free- - - -(whatever that is)
I let a hot shower run on my head where I shave the fringe and they seem to have gone down.
I will keep you posted.

Got another email from HeadBlade this morning saying that they will gladly send a replacement bottle if you contact them directly.

That is why HB is #1. I will touch base with HB and let everyone know. Thanks again Tyler. Sooner Steve
