Title: Delayed Reaction

At dinner earlier tonight (Christmas Eve), my wife's stepmother's mom asked me,  "Mike, why did you shave all the hair off your head?  I remembered you having a nice head of hair..."    She is suffering from dementia.   I wanted to just say I did it because I like the look, but someone else chimed in and said that I was losing my hair anyway.  So I just said, "Yeah, I was losing it, so I just went with it."

I probably would have done the same as you SlyMyke ... unless there was just enough pause to add "and I really like the new look."

Usually there isn't that much gap in the conversation, and I'd prefer to let the conversation move to some other topic.

Regardless, you look great!
