Title: White Christmas
Post by: clarinetguy on December 22, 2012, 03:06:22 PM
For those of you celebrating Christmas and living in colder climates are you hoping for a white Christmas? In warmer climates you don't have the expectation which I know from living in Florida for a few years. As a native New Englander living back here it is always a hope to make the holidays more like you expect and is a bit nostalgic. What do you think?

Lol.... No chance of snow here, 39 Celsius or 102 Fahrenheit.

Would be nice to experience snow on Christmas though.

I'd love it but it looks like a no show here. Blizzard conditions two hours or so west of here but just a few flurries here.

It is suppose to snow the day after Christmas.  Go figure!  I Have 10 Grandkids wanting snow!  I would love to be snowed in for a day just so my life will slow down just a bit!

Snow is a four letter word.

In my part of New England, we got three feet of snow followed a few days later by several inches of rain :-p Made moving all the snow quite the chore!

It is forecast to rain here.  Rarely have snow for Christmas, or any day of the year.

Had enough snow when we lived in Alaska.  Don't need it now.  You don't have to shovel rain.

On Wednesday night, going into Thursday we got about 3' of snow. I had to call into work because the county road wasn't plowed yet. Their response was "there is only a dusting of snow here". I live about an hour north of where I work and this happens all the time. The last few days it has been warmer and raining but we got another few inches last night so it does look like we'll have a white Christmas.

Rain >:(  But, as I've been reminded many times, one of the extremely rare White Christmas Days in New Orleans was 2004, and pre-saged Katrina.   If that's the penalty or price of a White Christmas--I'll take rain.  Not much snow ever here--but when it comes we get drifts up to two to three inches ;).   It's snowed once since 2004, but not on Christmas.

WellI'll be darned. The forecast here has changed and we will probably get a couple of inches of snow tomorrow evening.

Woke up today (Christmas eve) to about a foot of snow.  There was nothing when I came home at 11pm last night.  It hasn't stopped snowing yet, so I'd say it's a safe bet we'll be having a white Christmas :0(.

New Yorkers get snow in designer colors. Oddly, they are only yellow and an icky, crusty shade of grey. Lol.

That's a good one. Although I love city life, if there's one thing I enjoyed about living upstate, it was how beautiful the area looked with snow. My favorite funny memory was seeing trees was covered in ice. It made a funny, awkward situation when I was walking the dog, and hearing what almost sounded like glass shattering, to only find the ice melting from the branches.

Just back from Church about an hour ago. I haven't been to Church on Christmas Eve in a couple of years. We drove thru a beautiful snow to Gettysburg to our Church for the 8:30 service. In spite of the snow.... a full house. Pastor Dave delivered a great Christmas message.
The final song of the service, Silent Night, is always sung by only the light of candles held by each person at the service. No instruments.... only the soft voices of all in attendance. Beautiful.

I miss my Dad... but I feel his Joy in my heart.

God Bless each of you and Merry Christmas.

I see you have a Pastor Dave too. Actually, I have been a part of two groups (one is the daughter church.) The one I am in is pastored by David. The daughter church is pastored by his son Dave. The cool thing is that he is bald too. The entire thing of how so many people in his group have shaved heads has become a topic.
