Hi Everyone - Dave here from the Orkney Islands in the far north of Scotland. Just came on your site while looking on-line for info on the Headblade ATX. Been using Headblade products since the beginning and exchanged emails with Todd Greene in the early days and he was good enough to ship a razor over to me (plus a load of stickers and other stuff - what a great guy !) As well as being BBC I actually work for the BBC so very pleased to see that my employers initials can stand for something other than British Broadcasting Corporation O0 Anyway - I'm going to take a few days navigating the site and reading the posts and I'll try and contribute something to discussions if I have anything relevant to say (it does happen sometimes :*)) ) All the best Dave

Welcome Dave.
Don't hold back on posting ... even if your thought is the same as someone else's, often the way you convey it will have special impact for someone. It's all about support and encouragement.

Hi Everyone - Dave here from the Orkney Islands in the far north of Scotland.
Welcome to the SBG forum.
Orkneys and Shetlands are terrific parts of the world to come from. Had a great time in Shetlands and our boat moored at Kirkwall on the way back. Went in early July and it never got completely dark during the small hours.

Welcome to the club, Dave.

So what's new in the Orkney Islands these days Dave.?
-
Hi, and welcome. Not really related to being bald... at all, but you're from the Orkney Islands... so have you ever heard of the Nuckelavee? It's a folkloric monstrosity, also known as the Sea Devil of Orkney Islands. It's gruesome. And awesome.

Welcome to the forum Dave!

Wow - thanks for the warm welcome guys ;D Tom - yes the Nuckelavee is an old folk tale here - also there another involving a huge serpent called the Stoorworm. if anyone is interested in finding out more about Orkney then I can recommend this website http://www.orkneyjar.com/ (http://www.orkneyjar.com/) And if you'd like to hear the Orkney dialect then Radio Orkney is the place to go (you might even hear me reading the news :o) http://www.bbc.co.uk/radioscotland/news/rs_around_orkney/ (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radioscotland/news/rs_around_orkney/) Thanks again for the great welcome !

Free Vegemite is the best kind of vegemite... well any vegemite is good vegemite. Except for that cheesy thing they tried to introduce... that was NOT vegemite...

Too True Brother Beardman mate O0
-
Vegemite...truly an aquired taste.
-
That it is Tom mate, that it is :)
-
That it is, and us Aussies wouldn't have it any other way :@`

I have vegemite for lunch every day. It just occurred to me that with its soft and smooth consistency it might make an acceptable shaving lubricant in an emergency. Mind you, it would have to be a pretty dire emergency. And any nicks would sting a bit. Might sort the men from the boys.

Welcome to the forum Dave, good to have you join in.

Awesome. I'll have to introduce myself to this Stoorworm, then. I'd say here in nice and snowy North America, a cultural equivalent to the Nuckelavee would be the Wendigo... are you into folklore personally, or are people more connected with old stories where you're from?
