Hi, I'm Zusa and I joined this forum for a simple reason....
It's almost Christmas and I'm trying to find the perfect razor for my boyfriend. I've got a head full of hair but he doesn't, and prefers it that way (I do too - I think he looks great without hair!). The razor he has is old and has been dropped half a dozen times (it's got a bit of flair with the duct tape repair lol!) and I think it's time for a new one.
I don't know if this is the best place to be asking about what's the best razor but if it isn't can someone direct me to where to go? I'd very much appreciate it :)

Hi Zusa,
Welcome....you came to the right place for advice.
2 recommendations: The Head Blade.....a bit of a learning curve, but works great.....or the Gillette Fusion.
Be sure to introduce your boyfriend to this site also.
Mike

Hi, Zusa. Yes, you've come to the right place, for sure.
I'd suggest reading through this thread: http://www2.slybaldguys.com/smf/index.php?topic=3.0 . Maybe start from the end and go back, since the first post is 6 years old. ;D
Personally, I used Mach 3 disposables for 5 years. Never had a problem with them.
This year, I've switched over to the Schick Hydro 3, and I love it. Blades last long, and in my experience, there is very little chance for a nick, or razor burn. Good luck in your search!

Hmm I never thought about a disposable razor...
I'm not too totally sure what his shaving routine is. I just know it used to be he'd get it cut like every other week or so, until finally (after I told him enough times that he could actually do it himself) he started using his brothers old electric razor.
What's the head blade? :XX

Schick Hydro 5--very forgiving, easy to use, close long lasting shave of the melon!

I have just started using this razor myself and absolutely love it but it hasn't gave me that perfect smoothness anymore guess its time to switch the cartridge ;D

I'm a dedicated fan of the HeadBlade (Sport model), especially paired with HeadSlick shaving lotion. You can get both at Walgreen's (for sure, and some other retailers).
Here's the HeadBlade site for more info ... and look at the videos: http://www.headblade.com/ (http://www.headblade.com/)

Hi Zusa! You've come to the right place. I recommend the HeadBlade ATX as it is a great razor to introduce someone to the HeadBlade with. Without getting into the details, I'm sure you're man will love it! You can get 20% off by going to http://www.slybaldguys.com/atx and buying it through the HeadBlade website.

Personna M5 Magnum.
It's getting kinda hard to find. Used to be on the shelves at Wally World. Recently I've only seen it at Shopko or online from Personna. Very inexpensive razor (about $6.00 for the stick and 2 carts) and then $5 or $6 for a box of 4 carts but great steel and I've never cut myself with it. Can't say that for my HeadBlade.

I'm a HeadBlade fan for shaving my head. I prefer my old school Edwin Jagger DE for my face.
-
Zulsa, the Edwin Jagger DE is a real nice razor if you want to give him a nice gift and you should deffently buy him the Head Blade and a bottle of Head Slick you can't go wrong.

Welcome mate,
You've got some excellent razor options there. I personally use the headblade sport and schick hydro 5.
If you are looking for electric razors, I used to use some remingtion one, but I never really liked them personally for my head.
I'm sure one of our electric razor users will swing by soon to offer up their razor of choice.
-
Personally I have never tried the HB, but plenty have and encountered great success.
I use a Gillette Fusion and works great with replacement cartridges.

Welcome !

Holy cow! I disappeared for a few days to take care of finals and my topic became popular! :o
Thank you very much guys~
I'm still blown away by disposable razor though - maybe because when my dad first started shaving his head he was using the razor mom bought him (Braun... Dunno what kind of model though, he's had it since about 2000 and it works for him) Then again, when dad shaves his head it's because of the season that's what he told me anyway. But he admitted to my mother it's because he's tired of seeing a head full of gray hair :*))
So I guess one way to sum this up would be whether or not you want to do it manually or cheat with electric.
Thank you guys again for providing me with a wealth of information! I think I'll get him the HeadBlade. I've noticed the last time he shaved his head (aside from missing a few spots) he's irritated his skin from pressing to hard and has knicked himself a few times (I think it's an Norelco he uses? It's got three heads, and when I used it on him I wasn't impressed) Plus knowing him and doing general maintenance with an electric razor... Yeah. I'm not insulting his intelligence, but he's prefers to keep things simple.

Pair up the HeadBlade razor (I prefer the Sport model) with a bottle of HeadSlick shaving lotion and he'll be living the Sly life. Just remind him not to use too much HeadSlick (a little goes a long way) and initially no pressure on the HeadBlade razor until he's used to it.

Wise words as always FG.
Zusa, I hope he loves the headblade as much as I do. maintenance is a piece of cake haha, just change blades once a week and maybe an adapter once in a blue moon, I haven't broke mine yet and I've had my headblade for 6 months now.
